Newtons' dad violated NCAA rules by pimping his son. But Newton can play. Reasonable minds wonder how this is different than USC's punishment, in part, for Reggie Bush's family getting a house rent free. NCAA says that's easy: Reggie's family got use of a house. Cam's dad got a truck! See?



Media reports that MWC offered TCU financial incentives to stay in MWC. This is different from what they did with BYU where they told BYU to pound sand and instead pursued a strategy of offering UNR and FSU membership as a way to keep BYU from leaving. This makes sense, but MWC needs to review the incentives offered. If they had only offered Coach Patterson a year's worth of doughnuts, it would have done the trick.



LV Bowl invites Utah. This makes sense too, because Utah would have probably been the sixth place team in the PAC 10 this year and it gives the school something to look forward to for years to come.



Back to Cam Newton's daddy: The NCAA said there is another reason Cam can play and USC can be punished: Cam's daddy is a preacher, Reggie's parents are not. So there!
