What's BYU set to earn if TCU makes the NC/BCS

Obviously they're playing in a BCS game, which means BYU gets paid part of that.



What would the conference be paid for them making the NC?





I just heard on the radio that Nevada cost themselves $1.9 million by beating Boise and keeping them out of the BCS so I'm curious what the truth is and what the actual payouts are.



This is actually something to consider this year as the MWC is really good in hoops and there's a very good chance that BYU, UNLV, SDSU and maybe UNM all go dancing. We should be making some postseason money on the way out.

I never really thought that Nevada would be costing themselves dollars if they beat Boise.



Makes me think that coaches and administrators are more interested in winning games than getting conference money. In the WAC anyway.

The fans don't see that money, the players don't see that money (at least they're not supposed to...), and as far as I know, neither do the coaches. So of course they'd rather win than have their school earn a million or two.

Admin sees the money, admin talks to coaches every day.

The price for prestige and respect apparently can be costly but coaches have to worry about their paychecks which involves keeping boosters and fans happy too which means wins.



Nevada cost themselves almost 2 million in a BCS check (and everyone else in the WAC) but I doubt they regret it one bit.



MWC teams could benefit if TCU gets in the national championship game, and will benefit from TCUs BCS game, but I don't know what the actual payouts are and would like to know the amounts.



Seems to me that the national championship payout would be more than the Mtn TV contract for each school in the conference. We stand to get a nice little check if TCU makes it to the NC.



I think the Big East saw their grip slipping on an autobid and adding TCU all but guarantees that they'll have enough respect to keep their status handily.

If I were a college coach and my admin ever let it slip to me that maybe if we didn't win we could afford those new lockers... I'd punch him squarely in the nose and call every media outlet in the nation that would take my call.
