Who went wrong, Quezada or Kariya?

I've moved on from the game and this question is just out of curiosity. Who ran the wrong direction on the fumbled hand off? Kariya or Quezada? After watching it over a few times, I think the freshman made a freshman mistake, he looked confused before the ball was snapped. People keep talking about bad play calling and what not and whether or not to go for it on 4th and so on. This to me was the biggest game changer and resulted in imediate point for Utah.

This play was obviously one of the few keys to the game that went against BYU, maybe the 2nd biggest behind the blocked FG.



I'm pretty sure that Quezada mixed up his assignment (thought he was blocking when he was really supposed to be the RB) and thus caused the fumble. I hope it was a teaching moment for Bronco to explain to Heaps that when the designated ball carrier is confused about the play you take a time out rather than just hope he figures it out.

I think Q messed up, but kariya looked uncertain as well. Both looked to cross in the formation behind center, which makes no sense. Maybe Heaps messed up the hand off. Good question.

The fact that both RB's collided tells me Jake was not at fault. He played amazingly BTW (Wynn looked like the true frush, his first play from scrimmage was hilarious) One was clearly lead blocking for the other but both thought they were getting the ball or vice versa. Time-outs was another reason that I think that it was the right decision to kick a field goal. We burned on earlier in the half that we could have used on the final drive to use after a throw down the middle of the field.

q was obviously confused. jake probably should have made sure he knew was was going on given that point. not sure if he had time to do that or not though. it was a horrible mistake. something that just can't happen. too bad ashworth didn't make the catch the play before.

Well, Q missing that play, and the freshman TE missing the block on the FG hurt us. Youth can kill and it did at times Saturday. Those guys also made some great plays for us though.

I'll tell you who went wrong - whoever designed a play where two RB's cross right in front of the QB, who is handing the ball off to one of them.

How did that ball suddenly bounce 20 feet from any BYU player. How did the ball hit a BYU player on a punt?



I think Utah was using a remote controlled ball.
