Interesting thought on the 2 Point Conversion we didn't take

When BYU scored its first touchdown, the score was 12-0. The chart that all NFL coaches (and collegiate coaches) have says that when you are ahead by 12 points, you should go for a two-point conversion. Usually, the head coach doesn't delegate this decision to anyone else on his staff.



If BYU had made the two-point conversion at that point, the best that Utah could have done in the 4th Quarter would have been a tie (17-17), forcing an overtime. It the two-point conversion had failed, BYU would have still had the chance to kick the winning field goal (that was blocked) because the score would have been 17-15.



It's easy to fault play-calling in general or point the finger at the incompetent replay officials, but the truth is that Bronco was responsible for a really stupid decision before the 4th Quarter (and if he has delegated this decision to Anae, then he is doubly stupid).



A lot of work to salvage a successful season went out the window with a really simple and poor decision. Learn to just follow the chart that every coach has.

hindsight is 2020. if we would have kicked a field goal instead on throwing on fourth and inches we probably would have won as well.



if bj peterson had known that he was still on the field during the punt then we might have won as well. lots of stupid mistakes lost us the game. we had it but let it slip away.

If we get the FG on 4th and Inches, Hunter maybe doesn't intercept the pass that leads to BYU's only TD.



The call that no one (except for me) is talking about is the 4th down run in the first half that should have been a FG. It's not being talked about because it didn't directly lead to points.

Bronco was assuming that we would get another touchdown in the game and then make the decision at that time. It didn't work out. I was thinking about it at that point in the game.
