TCU to Big East - Announcement Today

It's being reported in the NY Daily and on ESPN.



Man, BYU is gonna regret leaving the MWC!

The Mtn really F-ed themselves over!



BYU, Utah, and TCU bail for more exposure. Then we have Boise, Nevada, Fresno, and Hawaii come in for less exposure AND less money.

I can't blame TCU for wanting to jump off a sinking ship. This makes the MWC the old WAC.



Any chance TCU makes this anouncement now to curry favor for the BCS mythical championship game?

Good for TCU. They may be annoying sometimes, but they've been consistently good for a long time. They have a long football history and will dominate the Big East.



The funny thing is not Fresno State, Nevada, and maybe Hawaii will have traded the WAC + BYU on the schedule for pretty much just the WAC. The MWC may as well invite everyone else in the WAC except La Tech.

I had read a report early this year that suggested the Big East was looking at TCU. I wondered who would pick them up as there was no real benefit in the MWC anymore ... BYU, Utah both gone and still stuck with lousy coverage. Good luck to them in the Big Least!



btw ... anybody know who will be filling Colorado's spot in the Big 12?

BSU is still better off in the new MWC than in the old WAC. Playing AFA, SDSU, and keeping NEvada and FSU is better than going back. It is basicall a hydrid now and a stronger league than the old WAC.

I would agree with that, except that it's a shadow of the league that it could have been. And that's what we can all laugh at.



Particularly we can laugh at the U for causing the power non-AQ league to collapse, we can laugh at Nevada and Fresno for destroying the WAC, and we can cry for Utah State for trying to do everything right and getting stuck in a brand new Div 2 conference.

I'll agree that it is a stronger league but the problem for BSU is they are going from being the ESPN darling on national tv every week to being on the MTN. In my opinion the upgrade in opponents isn't worth the downgrade in coverage now that BYU, Utah and TCU are gone.

I hope for Utah State's sake that they now get an invite to the MWC. The WAC will be horrible with the new teams they are bringing on. Utah State deserves better.

That's exactly what it is. If I'm BSU, Nevada, and Fresno I'm looking for any way to get back out. "Mtn west isn't what it was when we agreed..." type stuff.

If I'm any of them I'm pretty thrilled to be making more $$ and not have to play games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights anymore. It's not like they have a national following at all. their exposure will be fine as long as the MTN continues to air.

So now the Big East is going to have 17 teams in basketball? That seems pretty interesting.

The Mountain West Conference needs to hurry and invite Syracuse and Pitt to stop TCU from going as planned. :roll:
