My "religious" threads

Hello everyone.



I would like to thank you for your comments on my so-called "religious" threads. I did not post those threads, of course, because I thought you would all immediately (or EVER) completely agree with them, but because I knew that some of you, at times, would agree with some part of some them on some level and derive some kind of personal benefit from it. I also derive personal benefit as my strange (apostate?) ideas are challenged with sound logic by the intelligent people here and I feel compelled to alter them to meet the power of that logic.



I assume that is the motive for EVERY poster coming to this site, regardless of the topic; to sharpen their ideas (even if just regarding sports) against the the mass of intelligence found here. However, the mods have threatened me now numerous times, as they feel discomfort with the views I currently espouse (they are ever-changing, of course).



You know, were I a Catholic, I think they would welcome it? Same if I were Jewish or even Buddhist (although I suspect not Muslim). I try to maintain respect for the other posters who comment and request the same of them and they oblige me. I CAN'T imagine most self-proclaimed non-Mormons (not ex-Mormons though. Sorry Luke Ashworth) coming on this site and posting their perspective on things and having such threats issued to them. I can tell that the mods of this site relish diversity, but apparently only from one they could have the pleasure of baptizing one day; not one that claims to already be one of their own. Such is clearly not tolerated.



Now, I'm sure this pleases many of you because you didn't like my thoughts any more than they did, but they have continually locked my threads and now have even deleted some of them so the arguments made therein cannot be reexamined in the future by anyone. This is THEIR site, so they of course have the power to do as they please but I wonder if this doesn't disappoint anyone else.



Do you also think it sad, as I do, what men will do when they think God needs their protection? When they think TRUTH needs their protection? To speak out against an idea is one thing. To shed light on it as folly, sure. But to silence it? And not only silence it, but erase the written memory of it as well?



Well, I never meant to play the martyr here but....as I said before to Hawk I'll say again to everyone, I won't stop posting my thoughts on ANY matter in this forum so long as I am allowed to post. I will stick to sports in the sports section but I will continue to post anything I deem worthy of your thoughts and opinions in here so long as the mods don't ban me.



If you don't hear any more from me it will not be because I thought membership on this site was more valuable than my integrity. It will either be because the mods got to my post before you could read it, or because I've been banned. Some of you will be happy about that as you probably wanted to shut me up yourselves, but I suspect at least one of you will raise an eyebrow at this (Probably not Mars though ;) ). And that would be enough for me.

If you were a Catholic and it became evident that your primary purpose in coming to the site was not the discuss football anymore but to peddle your religious wares, you would receive the same treatment--the same you would get if all you were doing was peddling new shoes or russian pornography. We let your posts stand and run until it became evident that this was now your primary reason for coming here, and once it became a pattern of behavior that's when we started to moderate it.



We welcome many topics in the Lounge with little moderation. We allowed yours in the past. However, this is a BYU sports forum, not a religious discussion forum. We asked you to tone it down, to cut back, but you persisted. In short, you became the religious Airwolf. Like him, you have been warned, and asked to keep your posts in line with the rest of the site (you have posted more religious threads in the past month that have been in the Lounge since the site started).



I'm sorry if asking you to respect our wishes for how we want the site we run somehow offended you.

It's disappointing to me that your belief in the Golden Rule is superficial and used only as a club to make other people do what you want them to. Otherwise, I feel like you would respect the rules of this forum and it's members and management.

Your post was so long I will never consider reading it, but here's how I see it:



Expressing different religious ideas=cool



Bludgeoning the board with your ideas over and over=not cool



Simple as that.

Usually he responds to every single comment under a post that he starts -- he hasn't on this one yet. Where did he go? :skeptic:

He was asked to stop turning the lounge into a personal soap box for his religious views. In his post he refers to being "threatened" by mods several times. He started this thread as an immediate response to the latest request to take his religious posts to religious sites.



Like my two-year old who immediately spits when you tell him to stop spitting, taekwondave is in timeout for a few days.

Most of the religious threads are lame. That's why I avoid them.

To be truthful, I find it amusing, and to be honest, I take pride in not bothering with it.

Yeah, I'm trying to imagine Joseph Smith saying "I don't give a crap about celestial matters!" Or even my Bishop. :skeptic:
