Good! I wish it was 20 pts. It'll just cause our boyz to grit their teeth & dig deep!! The spread means zero this Sat. Bronco will have the Defense fired up & angry!!

+1. I hope uties are paying attention. Thats a big spread all things considered this year with both teams and how close scores have been in this rivalry most years over the last 5 or 6 (except for '08)

Considering we are 1-4 away from LES this year, and put up a fight in only the game we won, I understand the 10 pt spread. I think it is off, but I get it since the oddsmakers use stats this year to set lines. Based upon the fact it has not moved much, gamblers agree with it.

Personally, I'd have set is as Utah by 6. Outside the TCU game, they have been dominant at home, us weak on the road. I still think we win it, but not because of the 2010 stats differentials. We win because of intangibles learned the last 6 weeks.

I think it's about right. I just don't see us pulling off the upset this year.

We've got a banged up defense, but an offense that has grown and matured.

Look at our NT: Romney Fuga and Jordan Richardson are both out, leaving Ethan M to carry the burden. This is a position which we've been rotating players through the game to keep everyone fresh ... NT has been described as the most important position on the D-line since he MUST plug the middle. Fresh legs will really be needed this week as Asiata is a good, strong runner and they blast him up the middle often. This one position on the D has me concerned.

There are other injuries on D that weaken us.

The O, however, doesn't have to have the D carry them now. They can put points on the board and have started to gel. Heaps has matured a LOT and is starting to look quite solid. Our running backs have been impressive and have shown more depth than just the big 3. This week will show whether the RB's are also good blockers ... all the blitzing the :utard: does will challenge Jake's composure and the blocking abilities of the backs. Assuming they respond, the Cougs stand a very good chance.

Assuming the D plays strong, the Cougs are in a position to win (even win big) ... but things are ALWAYS tough in the beer bowl known as RES.

10 pts is a little big ...

Especially when I believe the Cougs can/will pull it off!!

I have NOT been comfortable - or confident in many games this year. I am not confident for this Sat. against the Yewts, but I am excited. I believe the Y is playing their best football of the whole year. They have had some bruising losses, dug deep, hit some real low points, pulled together & grown. I think the Coug's are dangerous going into Sat. They are better than their record - and they are a different team now than they were in Sept. I believe BYU has a real solid chance to beat the scuzzie Yewts. Not a prediction - but I'm very excited for Sat. :crazy:

I think you're exactly right about the defense. They will have their hands full and have been hit with injuries lately. But they've done well against everyone since Bronco took over. I think the Defense will keep the ute offense at bay.

The offense on the other hand has not performed well against the better defenses they have faced. This will be the first major test for the "new" BYU offense that we've seen. Hopefully they don't skip a beat and Heaps makes smart decisions. Had Hall made smart decisions in 08, BYU would have had a shot at that game. Don't gamble, throw the ball away if you need to. Don't force stuff down the field. Make the easy pass instead of the high risk high reward pass. If we see these things and the offense has really progressed as much as they look like they have (even against the worst of the MWC) I think BYU definitely covers the spread and makes it a game.

Although, I'd much rather just see a TCU-like beat down in SLC.

I'd much rather have it a very, very close game with Utah in the lead until the very last few seconds of the game when they successfully snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. A beatdown of the U might be fun, but a last minute win by the Y at the end of the game is a stake in the heart to the vamps/wimps of the North.

I don't know, now that they are pretty much in the PAC-0, they might pull the same excuse as all of the other teams we play from there. "We didn't have any motivation to play such a lowly team(or something to that effect)." :sick:
