The truth about the mtn and comcast finally emerges

Scott Pierce is a day late and a dollar short. Dick Harmon reported this back in August/Sept.



BYU was the only voice who complained about the contract as written. But the other university presidents gave Thompson free reign to sign the deal and could care less about BYU's concerns. Then when BYU announced they were leaving, they accuse BYU of complaining too much and revusing to be a team player for the MWC and mtn.



Thompson, the MWC, the mtn., and Comcast cal all rot in SNOT for all I care.

Somebody on the comments section said it best: doesn't BYU have a law school? Lots of verbal agreements in that entire mess. BYU didn't do itself any favors in that regard and probably learned a good life lesson.

I love that the mtn is NOW letting games be rebroadcast on local stations. What's up with that?

That's all I can think of. BYU pointed out to the rest of the teams how ridiculous this contract is. I think that all the teams are going to start demanding local broadcasting at this point.

What this tells me is that Comcast can budge and Thompson has for the sake of Conf survival has now pointed this following the helmet-to-helmet blow BYU just put on the conf and the MTN.

I'd never wish this upon us. But if I were comcast and I was pretty dang certain my product was tanking anyway, I'd be really tempted to hose my Utah-based advertisers and announce that the BYU-utah game will NOT be televised. Just send of the utes and the Cougars on their merry way.



Let me reiterate, I WOULD NEVER WISH THIS UPON US, and it would be product suicide more than they are already comitting as it is.

I'm no lawyer and I haven't read the contract (apparently few have), but I would think this would entail some level of breech of contract. If not to the two schools, at least to the advertisers. I could see a pretty big lawsuit headed their way if they pulled that trick. I can't see that happening in reality, especially since it would hurt Utah who has been sainted by the mwc for their move into "the big time.". (tic)



To the lawyers on here, if com cast were to pull this game last minute would it be a breech of contract? Would byu have the right to broadcast the game if it occurred?

If they were to announce that the game wasn't going to be televised, then BYU and Yewtah would have grounds to broadcast the game themselves. BYU would probably somehow get permission to put the game on BYUTV, and Utah, well they could put it on KJZZ or something for all 30 :utard: fans that would watch the game.

That is the best comment. A few years ago I entered a contract with a development firm to build and sell an investment home. Some elements in the contract were verbal, and oddly enough, the investment ended up being as good for me as the mtn was for BYU. Lesson learned for sure.
