BYU future with the highly touted freshmen

Today's win (40-7) seemed to present a glimpse of what the future will be like for the next couple of years with a couple of freshemen by the name of:



1. Jake Heaps (18/32, 231 yards, 2 TD's, 0 INT's)

2. Josh Quezada (15 carries, 107 yards, 1 TD)

3. Cody Hoffman (5 receptions, 71 yards, 2 TD's)



I am stoked for the UT game, we seem to be peaking at the right time.

If it took this year to get their minds right, (as A. Rich stated), those 5 losses will be worth it. This is definitely a special group of freshman. And a bunch of them haven't even seen the field yet.

I think Jakes Numbers would have been better if he hadn't gotten greedy in the 1st half with the long ball. He admitted as much in the post game presser. Once he settled down and ran the offense, he did it really well.

I'm getting really excited about next year. I know it's too early, especially because this year isn't over yet, but thought of Heaps airing it out to Hoffman and Apo out wide with Quezada rolling out 100 yard games every week just puts a huge :D on my face.

Nobody has mentioned defense or special teams Frosh. The frosh look brilliant at times and make frosh mistakes. Some of that will happen as Sophs and RS Frosh next year. Van Noy made 3 mistakes I noticed but at least that many big plays. They will improve next year. But those mistakes may cost us the Utah game if they show up there.

I think that was his way of politely criticizing anae's play calling in the first half. I may be reading into it but that was my impression.

I have to say the feeling today vs the feeling 5 games in is certainly polar opposites. Not that I ever felt dispair about the team but I wondered how much growing our freshman would do this year. Granted the competition level has dropped significantly but even with that drop we have absolutely dominated the opposition including SDST. I believe that if we were in the MWC next year we would win it.
