Best & worst from todays telecast...

Favorite: Seeing the MTN camera dofus show the sign in the student section that said, "Sammy come with us to ESPN!"



Worst: Hearing the Todd, James and Toby are doing next weeks game.



Runner up worst: That darndable double screen shot by the insurance company on running plays up the middle. Like I can't already see the rb running from one side of my screen to the other without having them split my screen! Seriously? Can't we use this on a passing play and watch things develop outside of the regular qb screenshot?

an hour later: great play by the guy only at 75%



We Get It!. Hey NM scored less than 20% of what BYU did. Try that one.

Sammy Linebaugh (I think is her last name) is the sideline reporter for the mtn. And at the risk of sounding chauvenistic (sp?) I really dislike most if not all of the females involved with broadcasting men's sports at every level. But the sign was still funny!

I seriously cannot, cannot stand listening to TC. I guess the silver lining is that this will be the absolute last time we have to listen to him, not to mention the last time we will have to watch a BYU game aired on the MTN.

I seriously cannot, cannot stand listening to TC. I guess the silver lining is that this will be the absolute last time we have to listen to him, not to mention the last time we will have to watch a BYU game aired on the MTN.

BYU has BSU on its schedule starting in 2012. The away games will be on the mtn., if it's still in existence then. Also, I can see some MWC teams scheduling BYU in the future once they see that UNR, FSU, BSU, and UH do not put fans in the stands like BYU does.



Unfortunately, we are not done with the mtn., yet.

First off, I like James Bates. I think he calls a great game. He and Fowler are the best the MTN has to offer. His call on the Beck to Harline game was priceless. He is solid.



As to TC, I think he gets a bit wordy, but I have no problem with him. Plus, I know some people who know him on a personal level and say he is most of the nicest, genuine people out there, and I respect that. He lives in Alpine, is still a True Blue BYU guy, just has a job to do, so tries to be unbiased. I think people rip him too much, personally.

I would not be unhappy if the BYUtv broadcast crew was James Bates and Blaine Fowler.

I'll pass on that. I prefer neutral announcers. Wrubell, as good as he can be, is a huge homer. Some people want that, but I don't. I want guys there to call a game without fearing they get canned if they don't slant it too much for their teams fans.

I don't mind homer announcers on home channels, but I don't think that Wrubbell's style works on tv. Simulcast's are a thing of the past.

I think it's perfect for TV. It's also perfect for radio. But that's because I love the additional detail (where the WRs are lined up, what kind of pre-snap motion is happening, etc.) It's a radio announcer style, and therefore requires that lots of things be described with words, unlike modern TV football broadcasts where, "and the run goes up the middle for a first down" is good enough.

Agreed. IMO they are a pretty good combo. They aren't amazing, but they do a better job than virtually anyone else on the MTN. Now and then I even find myself chucking a little bit at the things they say.
