Brian Logan: Not planning on leaving any time soon

He (Logan) may not be leaving Provo anytime soon after the school year. He wants to get a master's degree at BYU, and he's been talking with Mendenhall about becoming an intern or graduate assistant next year.



Eventually he wants to be come a junior-college football coach, noting "I know how hard it is not to have guidance (at that level)."

Really hope he does stick around and continues to help the team, he's just a great guy.

Yes yes yes yes yes!!! This is the best news this week. A non-lds africanaiamerican that LOVES BYU and Bronco. We need him bad for recruiting. And to have around the other non-lds kids so he can help them adjust to culture shock.

He's been my favorite guy on defense for the last couple years and I still attribute the Oklahoma win to his stellar open field tackle. Logan plays WAY beyond his size and I'd be happy if he stuck around for a long time.

Agreed. He's exactly the type of player I'd like to see more of at BYU.

Agree with all of the above. I've enjoyed Brian Logan tremendously for both of his two seasons at BYU. He's a real hero.

I still believe 100% that his late game open-field tackle saved us the game against OU last year. Without it their runningback would've had an easy route to the endzone.

One big reason to celebrate hearing Logan say this is because it means that Joe Sampson will not waiver on his commitment if Brian intends to stick around Provo.



Our secondary has a chance to be better than this year.. IF we can fill the void left by Andrew Rich.



Our linebacker core will be much improved (JP healthy, KVN experienced, a glut of studly middle linebackers)



Our dline will be stabilized and virtually everyone returns on offense.

100% true. And the cool thing is, Sampson will only be the first of many.

For the first time in forever, BYU will not have to worry a great deal about its corners going into consecutive seasons. We may have safety concerns, but only due to lack of experience. The talent is there. Andrew Rich is the best safety since Francisco, and both were guys that would pass cover well, then get up and hit guys in the run game like an LB. Hopefully, Sampson or Everett can do the same for us next year, along with J'Ray, who I expect to fill in Rich's spot. Our D could be scary good for the next 3+ years with the young guys we have now.

I wonder if Pendleton moves back to safety next year. He has the ability, and the team seems more deep at OLB than at safety.

I'll agree that he is better (not MUCH better) if we're talking about individual talent alone.

Rich had and has the better athletic ability, but no one was better "QBing" the defense than Scotty. I was very worried about that when Scotty graduated, but Rich really stepped up his game and became almost as good a student of the game as Johnson.

Let's not forget Kaveinga will be joining the middle linebackers next year. I agree that the defense will be stout for the next 3 years.
