BSU might be relieved - now they won't have to play anyone that they shouldn't be able to beat - like in the WAC - they get a tiny SOS boost from AFA, and MWC bottom feeders are a tiny bit better than WAC bottom feeders - and eventually, that stupid MWC TV contract will expire.

And BSU can get good OOC games. BYU for example. Utah may even be stupid enough to keep playing BSU.

Oregon, OSU, and other BCS schools keep stepping up. BSU just needs to stay smart and not start giving 2fer1 or 1fernone to Big East or SEC schools or play them on "un" neutral fields.

Good. Screw them and screw the Mountain West.

Not a shocker, but they just made competition with BS for top rankings extend into the next decade as BS will cruise the mwc, and TCU will cruise the big least

Every BYU fan needs to go and get on all their online articles and message boards and rip them for ditching the MWC. Give them the same crap we got for going indy. But I'll bet the rest of the conference teams won't say a thing against TCU just like they didn't against the pukes. But "BYU... those backstabbing bastards! Let's never play them again." ----> Oh no, please play us! What will we ever do if we don't have the likes of SDSU, CSU and Wyoming on our schedule?! Close down the program, we'll never survive!

What's Hair going to try this time? Or is his hatred only towards BYU? He did nothing against the Yewts. He probably won't take action this time, either. Is he, maybe, a religious bigot???.........

Ha, what did I tell you. The MWC is even tweeting to "head FB coach Gary Patterson making the rounds on @ESPN tomorrow!" They're praising TCU for leaving the conference. And you know they know about it because otherwise they wouldn't have invited Hawaii tonight.

So whatever happened to the "play in all sports" rule? In essence they forced out BYU because they wouldn't let us go indy in football and keep everything else in the MWC but they let in Hawaii for just football while the rest off their squads go and join the Big West. Haha! Stupid MWC. Screw 'em! Now they have even less TV revenue, split more ways, with greater travel expenses! What retards. Which of the presidents are approving these moves by Thompson? That conference is going to be dead in 5 years.

Now how many days before USU gets their invite to the "new and improved" MWC... or the old WAC as it were?

Karl Benson is going to go nuts over this!

This makes sense combined with the Hawaii announcement. I imagine TCU has always been one of the primary obstacles to Hawaii joining the MWC, because they hate playing in the Pacific time zone, let alone Hawaii time. If TCU is headed out, then that paves the way for Hawaii to join...

still wish there'd be breaking news about byu being invited to the B12, football only or for everything...

While Patterson may indeed talk about the change while on ESPN, it looks this appearance was already scheduled for another reason.

I guess this may put TCU into the NC game if it is true and if Ore or Aub stumble.

or if Auburn gets hosed and is exposed...

Auburn already hosed itself. That school is dirty. The stuff coming out on its Board of Trustees and federal indictments is crazy. Auburn has been a mess for years, though, and the volcano there is about to blow. I know more than a few people in the South that couldn;t be happier.

Why did Boise, UNR, Fresno, and now Hawaii jump to the MWC?

The answer may surprise you. It's the money from the TV deal. It is almost double what they are getting now, even with it being split more ways.
G
gmj81
Who's surprised? That has been common knowledge for a long time. Of course that money is almost guaranteed to be less now. Without the moneymakers in BYU and Utah in the conference anymore, Comcast is sure to renegotiate the contract for less money.

Sure it might still wind up better for them in the long run. At least they upgrade the bottom of the conference and other sports. It's certainly not the same BSU thought they'd be getting: an push for an AQ conference. But if TCU does bolt like is expected, they will still be in a "WAC" like conference only with worse exposure, making arguably a few more dollars in TV revenue.

This is funny after Patterson pissed himself when BYU decided to leave the conference.

If TCU bolts to the Big East then I see the Hawaii move as an attempt to salvage the Mtn network. Since there's no way that ESPN deals with the new WAC, it makes sense that the old WAC members want to go to the MWC where a TV network is already in place.
