Should USU be mad about "the message"?

Following a hypothetical future University of Utah football game where we lose 3-0, some student gets on the loud speaker and says:



"Enjoy the loss Zoobies! Too bad you couldn't make it into a BCS conference! love from the UofU"



I tried to make the example comparable but I'm sure we'd all agree that would be pretty offensive. We'd harp about them being classless and how we'd never do that, and if we did, how we would all condemn such an act.



I thought the original message was funny too, but if I were on the receiving end, I wouldn't think so.

Well they are a bunch of femmie red-headed step children--the truth sucks. Actually I hold USU in higher esteem than the U as far as the students go--at least it's a live-on campus school. But I would commit suicide if I had to go to a school where 100% of the students are from Utah (no offense that's just too much for me). BYU, similarly, does not have ethnic diversity but it makes up for it in geographic diversity, which was pretty cool imo.

It was funny, people can take it how they want but it was EXTREMELY mild, BYU issued their apology which is the right step, but we all know how the fans feel about each other.

No, USU should not be mad about this. BYU should disappointed in the fan, for stooping to the Aggie's level. We're better than that. The kid's been reprimanded. Let's move on. Unfortunately, since the Aggies need something fuel their hatred for us, they won't be able to move on. They won't be able to let go. So they'll continue to debase themselves and find new low, classless, mean-spirited and offensive ways to treat BYU, its players and its fans.



This "message" was extremely mild, like Schmoe said, but 10 years from now, the Aggies will still be referencing how mean BYU was to them back in the day.

What I think is funny is that the whining USU fans ARE acting like the little brother....sheesh....I'm glad BYU apologized. It was tactless and I bet the IT student who pulled the stunt will be wiping computer screens for a few weeks and then transfers to Theater were he gets an A for making the most of a moment

I don't think they should even care. It would be a completely different story if BYU endorsed the message and allowed it to be thrown on the jumbotron. USU fans are getting fired up about one unimportant dude's trash talking.



Even if the message had been approved by BYU, it's not much to get mad about. The score itself would have been a much bigger slap in the face if I was a fan. ;)

I would think USU fans are more upset about the flagrant foul call that took them out of the game when they were down 3 and had just grabbed a rebound.



USU basketball deserves a little respect. Good program. USU football - well - oh - well this year they earned some early.



So apology and respect is well in order and let's kick their butts in all sports next year.

I think it's pretty pathetic that people especially USU fans are making such a stink about this the posters that the USU fans had at the game were alot worse than that.



Here is my favorite I don't know how many of you saw the one that said " Hey Fredette stop playing with your Jimmer" I do admit I laughed my butt off when I saw it. :lol:

To answer your question many USU fans have written President Samuelson and Tom Holmoe demanding an apology. Some have even claimed to have quoted President Uchtdorf's "Sportsmanship Talk" in their emails. Ridiculous, I know.



I'm tempted to write the president of USU and complain about their fan behavior at the game. They had a "Bull S***" and a "Waste of Tithing" chant going. Normally I wouldn't do something like this but I kind of feel like it now after the whining and crying their fans have been doing.

Considering what these fans yell at Y fans, and the Y they can't cry at all.

If I was USU i'd be more mad about being at USU, and trying to get out of there. That's what I'd be mad about. I'd also be mad at myself for saying the Y is afraid of playing at the spectrum when USU hasn't played in Provo since 2006.



I'd be less mad then a ute "fan" may be though, so the bottle (notice I said bottle) is 1/3 full.





Kickoff and Tipoff are too late today!

My apology probably would have been one of those like I used to give my little brother, "sorry your feelings were hurt by what I said, hope we can still be friends." That would have really made me laugh if Homoe had pulled that one out!
