BYU vs. USU breakdown

Here are my quick takes on some key matchups



Projected Starters



Fredette

Emery

Abouo

Hartsock

C. Collinsworth

Williams

Jardine (starting in place of injured Bendall)

Fredette vs Pooh Williams/Pane



No doubt USU will focus on slowing down Fredette. Pooh Williams has the size, strength and quickness to pressure Jimmer on the perimeter and force him into help areas. Jimmer needs to be patience and carefully pass the ball. USU is going to help on D against him and he needs to make the right passes. Emery and Abouo need to make open shots.



Wesley vs Hartsock/Collinsworth/Davies



Wesley is the key to their offense. If Chris Collinsworth can do a good job on him we will win the game in a blow out. Wesley is only 6'7" but he has a very good post game. Collinsworth will need to use his length to bother Wesley without fouling.



Bendall being hurt is a big problem for them. He is their second post option and his replacement Jardine is not much of an offensive threat.



If we can play good D and rebound their early misses; I can see us pushing the tempo and then our depth will allow us to bury them. If start out slow like against FSU we could get into trouble because they will be able to slow the game way down.

So you think Hartsock will start at the 4 and CC at the 5 then?? I really like that group myself.

It hasn't been officially announce but I expect Hartsock to start regardless. I also expect Chris Collinsworth to play most out of Davies, Anderson and himself.

CC is getting stronger. I like him in the post to start with a shorter opponent. Then maybe Davies will get some fire defensively andcome off the bench and earn his starting job back. Either way, i like our options there and if Jardine is not an offensive threat, Logan M can sub in nicely for the 4 spot.



Interesting breakdown. If they key on jimmer (what team shouldnt be) this could really highlight Jimmer's improved passing/assists. And if he gets those going and doesnt force, everything will open up for the whole team, including Jimmer. Or bring KC in at the point and force them to make a tough defensive choice against Jimmer at the 2.
