BYUtv FB broadcast team for next year

Anybody know who they are tapping to do the broadcasts of FB and BB next year? I can't imagine they would use any of the current talent on BYUtv. Jarom Jordan and crew do a pretty good job for soccer, VB and baseball, but I don't think they are ready to call BYU - ND for example.

Why not a simulcast with Greg "Plenty of Time" Wrubell?

I think I heard they are hiring Todd Christiensen and James Bates. :lol:

Please, please, please no on Todd Christensen. It would be just like BYU to do such a thing though because some administrative stiff knew him when he was at BYU or something and being totally ambivalent to the majority of BYU fans that don't like his style of football broadcasting.



I realize you were being sarcastic, but I just have this fear.

One comment I'd like to make is that I hope they develop following more of the Versus model than the mtn. the mtn is still lost all these years later. I can't believe how many plays last Saturday (BYU vs CSU) that were not replayed. Some controversial that you just wanted to see again (for those other like me that still live in the past and don't have a dvr). I just couldn't believe it.



Then later that evening I watched the Oregon vs Cal game on Versus and I was impressed. They have caught on quickly on how to do a descent job. I can't figure out who's running the mtn broadcasts, but it sure won't be sad when they are soon out of a job.

Kyle Whittingham will be the color guy. I hear that after the utes lose their next 3 games ute fans will call for his head and he'll be either taking his tallents to south beach or available for TV

I bet Jarom is on the sideline. And I believe Dave McCann, is his name. He's the guy who hosts the True Blue show.



I don't mind Jarom. He and I were in the broadcast program at BYU at the same time. He's a good guy and works hard and really loves BYU sports. One of the other reporters on True Blue, Robbie Bolloughs is a complete dink though, and I hope he has nothing to do with the broadcasts.

Dave McCann and Blaine Fowler.

Having watched some of the True Blue show with Dave McCann, I'm not overly excited about him calling games. He doesn't strike me as a sports broadcaster. He doesn't seem have the passion for sports that I like from my announcers. I like Wrubbel. He cares. Guys like John Gruden and Jaworski care. Even guys like Joe Buck who are objective at least care about the sport. McCann doesn't strike me as a sports guy. He's a journalism guy. He seems to be a guy who turns on Fox News or CNN or anything but ESPN when he gets home.

When I worked at BYUtv, we managed to snag Holly Rowe quite often, but I think that was for soccer and volleyball.

KSL has one talented member on the sports staff and that's Greg Wrubbel. Everyone else is awful and devoid of talent.

Yep. And to think that KSL had such a strong tradition of quality sportscasters--Paul James, Jim Nantz, Craig Bolerjack...



Is Todd Harris still around at ESPN? He's a BYU grad I think.

If I understand this correctly BYUtv will only be doing live broadcasts of home games that are not picked up by ESPN. Then for road games they will only be doing live broadcasts that aren't picked up by the home teams network.



Other then that BYUtv will only be rebroadcasting the ESPN feed.



So for live broadcasts I think BYUtv will be doing way more basketball games then football games just due to the sheer numbers of basketball games compared to football games.



Is this correct? I'm not positive so will somebody enlighten me on how this is going to work?

Seriously though, I hope they just work out a deal to sync the KSL audio with byuTV video for all football and basketball broadcasts that ESPN doesn't pick up. That would truly be the best combination on earth.

Dave is good at sports broadcasting. He has been down in Vegas for quite a while. He does a great job. I am excited to have McCann and Fowler there. They will be great. It is amazing to see McCann go from the Orem High Radio station to the main sports guy in Vegas. You will be surprised at how well he does.
