add in senior night and that UNM is even worse than CSU and UNLV and this one will get ugly real fast.

BYU needs all the confidence they can get before the showdown in SLC.



I hope that the players don't get overconfident, which is easy to do with a young team. They should put the game out of reach in the first 20 minutes.

Totally agree, was going to add something like that to my post, but they've also been on a 3 week high now. We'll see. I just hope to see consistency for 3 weeks.

This will be a great game, and I'll be in the east stands cheering them on all the way!

I liked it a few years ago when we had Air Force as the tune up to Utah. I don't like having one of the least effective MWC teams before the Utah game except for the fact that we can hurry up and get our 2nd and 3rd string players out as soon as possible if everything goes as it should. Just as it didn't help Utah to have all of their cupcakes grouped together, which ended up giving them over-confidence, I don't like the same situation. I don't believe that CSU was quite the cupcake that UNLV and NM will be, but also Wyoming played us way above what they have done in the conference ever since. It seemed to me that no one expected BYU to roll over CSU like it did, so I'm still not sure who we are this year and NM doesn't do one thing toward getting us to know either.



I just hope Utah and SDSU have a dog fight and the Pukes come into our rivalry game hobbled and lost.

The UNM games have been dogfights the last 3 years. Just sayin - don't take a 43 point victory for granted. Last year we beat them by 5...they weren't any better last year, but we were.

I really think that last year BYU overlooked New Mexico as BYU would play Air Force the next week. Coupled with that, New Mexico was amped for the game, and played the game of the season against BYU.



2008 wasn't as much of a close game, as UNM only managed 3 points. Granted BYU managed only 21, but I think again that it was a matter of New Mexico being overlooked. The week after New Mexico BYU played TCU in Fort Worth.



This year, I don't see BYU looking past anyone. I think they know that on a given day, if they don't focus and play their best, they can be beaten by anyone. They won't be taking anything for granted.



I think BYU wins, and wins big.

We're going to KILL New Meixco and here's why:

UNLV PER Defese: 151.82, our actual rating was 161.88

CSU PER Defense: 170.21, our actual rating was 242.64.



Those PER Defenses for UNLV and CSU are post-BYU. UNM PER Defense: 151.87.



UNLV Rush Defense: 212 ypg, 5.1 ypc, our actual rushing was 216 yards, 4.2 ypc

CSU Rush Defense: 197 ypg, 4.9 ypc, our acutal rushing was 284 yards, 6.8 ypc



Again, those are post-BYU numbers. UNM Rush Defense: 245 ypg, 5.2 ypc, 120th in FBS.



There isn't going to be ANYTHING UNM will be able to do defensively to stop Heaps and Co. I'm confident in saying we'll have another 200-200 Day. A 200 PER and 200 yards rushing.
