Should Bronco be MWC Coach of the Year?

"If BYU wins their next two games, the Cougars will end the year 6-2 in the MWC, second place in the conference, and head-to-head victories over any team tied with them. Such a strong finish that clearly started when Mendenhall took over the defense begs the question: Should Bronco Mendenhall be the MWC coach of the year?"

Yes, he SHOULD be, based on how he grabbed the team by the throat in midseason and totally turned it around. But he WON'T be - they'll give that to Hoke, especially when the Asstecs beat :utard: this week.

I am going to say no. while he finally got his act together and recaptured the team, he shoulders "some" of blame for letting the team get to that point in the first place.



what he has done since he shook things up has been nothing short of amazing. just wish it didn't take so long for him to do it.



you can't push someone in a pool and then save them and say you are a hero. while bronco didn't push he probably should have seen the push coming and could have stopped it.

It's hard to give coach of the year to the coach of a team predicted to finish 3rd (may still come true) and presided of a 1-4 start. If BYU had finished second with a 7-1 record, then I could see it. Unless the Aztecs completely melt down, my vote would be for Hoke for finally getting a school of underachievers to play to their talent level.

Certainly a great turnaround Bronco has orchestrated, but Patterson has made the bigger splash on the national stage for the conference.

Bronco is a great coach--and the perfect fit for BYU. The award is coach of the Year not coach of the last 6 games.



I would support Hoke--best turn around of any MWC team.
