Fresno St. Game on TV??

Will the Fresno St. game be on TV? Cougarfan.com didn't list anyone as carrying it. Please tell me I'll be able to watch it!

nope instead the MTn is going to show a riveting matchup between the ladies of SDSU and UCLA...



you would think with all the interesting story lines here, the MTN would have shown this, or somebody would've picked it up.. Ridiculous.

I just sent an email to BYUTv in hopes they might show it last minute. Probably won't, but we'll see.

contractually I don't think they can cause it's a "home" game.. which sux, the mtn is absolutely awful, but luckily we are moving on.

That sucks. Glad we are leaving the mountain we$t after this year! Then is ESPN, WCC, Independents!!!! It's Going to Be a GREAT YEAR next year!!!!

Why would they care if it is a OOC home game? If they aren't going to let BYUtv or someone air the game, that is just stupid. Good riddance, it's crap like this that makes me love BYU's move to independance.

Any games that would promote BYU the mtn/mwc will try and hide it best they can. They'll only put games on when they are forced to because utah companies paid for advertising slots.



If they had their way they would never air anything from Provo or having to do with BYU.

Think this has been covered ad naseum, but the answer is simple.. The MWC didn't respect us and neither did their television partners. They're certainly not going to give in now, considering they have zero to gain from it. Maybe if they had hedged their bets a few years ago and allowed us some autonomy, their cash cow would still be in the barn.

OK, I get that. I'm wondering why the MTN is involved in an OOC game. Why can BYU broadcast BYUhawaii/Chicago state/and mississippi valley state at home, but not Fresno ST?



Still confusing to me.

Because the MWC and its school presidents were in such a rush to get the TV deal in place and to get The Mountain distributed on any outlet (Dish, DirecTV, Comcast) that when nobody would really pick up the station - because lets face it, who cares about the MWC's television footprint when you have states that are very sparsely populated (Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Nevada) and the schools that are larger markets (San Diego, Dallas, Denver) are third afterthoughts in those markets - that they sold a controlling interest of The Mountain to Comcast for the cable provider to pick up the network.



The eight other MWC presidents didn't care, because they don't have a BYUTV option like BYU. So not being able to have games picked up broadcast wasn't/isn't an option for them. So they gave The Mountain/Comcast the rights to ALL regular season home games. BYU-Hawaii was a pre-season game. The Chicago St/Miss Valley St games are part of a tournament not owned by the MWC/Comcast and that tourney will take all the exposure that they can get. Just like the games at ESA, it's not a home game for BYU so BYUTV can show it.



This is pretty much the main reason why BYU is going independent. They weren't a partner with the MWC and the Mountain/Comcast. If they were a partner they would have been working together to maximize exposure of the conference. Since the MWC isn't interested in exposure or promotion, and when BYU's only tie to the conference - Utah - bolted, BYU said, thanks, we'll take care of our own exposure now.

BYU-Hawaii wasn't a "home game", it was an "exhibition".

The last two aren't "home games", they are "tournament games" hosted in Provo, UT.



BYUTV showing those games against the Mtn's will is a direct result of BYU hiring those lawyers a few years back.

I forgot those were tournament games. I just saw Provo in the schedule and figured they were home games.

Seems like it would be a no brainer for comcast/mtn to ask for say $10k to sell rights to BYUtv for this game and be $10k richer and they're not out anything and haven't had to do any work. I'm sure there are 1,000+ desperate fans willing to chip in $10 each to see the game (or like ticket prices $1 each and there will just need to be more of us.) the mtn execs must have agendas deeper than $ for this game to not be on tv.

BYU has approached the MWC/The Mtn/Comcast multiple times to allow them to broadcast games not picked up by the Mtn. They aren't going to start allowing BYU to broadcast them now.

STUPID MTN, STUPID MWC. This will be a great game and it is sold out so.... they are so stupid... I would pay good money to watch these games. Makes my head hurt. :angry: :~( :skeptic:
