TCU to the Big East?

Over the last few days I've seen a few articles suggesting (ok ... Not suggesting, out right stating) that at the next Big Least meeting the presidents will vote to invite TCU to join. One article figured it is a win-win situation as TCU gets into an AQ conf and the Big Least gets to use TCU's record to keep their AQ status.

What do you guys know about this?

Same as you read. All rumors and speculation, nothing concrete. I suspect that it will happen simply because the Big Least needs them for football, which drives the sports engine. The Big East has great hoops tradition, but it is a distant 2nd in the discussion, and I am sure many of the schools would not mind adding some easy wins each year.

I bet they go for 2012-13 season.

TCU doesnt need the Big East to be a player in the national football scene, and though they would love the money, I don't necessarily think they are poor. They are a wealthy institution, and will probably be wise to not jump onto a sinking ship.

You must have missed the period of time before the conference expansion circus where everyone was teasing Mars about being a Boise fan for wanting to add them to the MWC. And I must have missed the part where you became the sole arbiter of internet message board credibility - an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Mars is bombastic with his opinions. Some people like that, other people don't, and he rightfully doesn't care because he's entitled to his opinions and his freedom to express them however he pleases. But to say it discredits him? Do you not see the sheer volume of information he brings to this site? He's like the Matt Drudge of BYU sports, especially during the off-season, and I'm grateful for that.

I always find it amusing when a "2-month-long" Cougar Corner member, who is still wet behind the ears, calls down an aged icon like Mars with over 4500 posts. Mars has been around since dirt was invented and, although we might not always agree with him, he always ALWAYS deserves respect.

Plus 1 re the emotional posts discrediting objectivity. But as others posted, MARS is a prolific poster, and once you skip past the stuff that seems to be an emotional rant or seemingly lacking maturity or wisdom, he does on occason bring factual informaotin that is informative.



As someone mentioned, I do remember Mars taking a lot ofheat for being in love with BSU. I actually think BSU is a very good program and one that has stolen BYU's thunder in our own neighborhood as has Utah and TCU. I respect all of them.

If TCU goes that would turn the MWC into WW or "The Wountain West" adding the WACs "big time" schools. The WAC become the "Wig Sky" and the Big sky= who cares.

I would laugh all the way into 2011 because Hare Tompson got what he deserved. I wonder if Boise, Fresno, and Nevada would go back to the WAC? Probably to late to do that but wow, what a bust for Tompson.

Wonder if CBS will work harder to keep TCU than it did trying to keep BYU? Again, these guys are all idiots so it's doubtful --- talk about not protecting your product, losing your top 3 teams.

I agree with this, and it's tough for me because one of my best friends is as big a die hard Broncos fan as I am Cougar fan. He's classy and cool and we've had great times together, but then you get around the other fans and they are terrible donkey-holes.

It's like that one friend you grow up with whose family is all Ute fans, and they're nice and normal, but then you see all the frUtards "passing the sacrament" :sick: and all kinds of garbage, and it ruins it for everyone. I'm sure it's the vocal minority for each group, but that's quite enough to sour me on both teams.
