What would save Anae's job?

I've heard the spectrum of opinions and now that Anae gave us a 500 yard game, the critics are A LOT quieter. A change may still be in order, but I wanted to see what it would take to save his job given the recent, loud chorus of calls for his job (and his head)

With everything that he and the offense had to deal with at the beginning of this year, I don't mind if he stays or goes at this point. Whatever Bronco wants to do is what I'll support.

What he needs to do is sign the clone of Brett Favre to play next season and find the lost tribes of Israel as a new pipeline for the Y.

Anae needs a bye week every other week so that he can half way game plan. He just can't do it in a week but does decent when given time.

Being willing to just be co-offensive coordinator and TE coach. Being involved with game planning, but NOT play calling.

I'd be fine with this too.

If our offense continues to roll and we win out. I think a part of the poor offensive play calling has come from playing from behind early and having to rely on a green qb. Now that Bronco has taken control of the defense, we've been able to play to our strength (run game) and our games have gone a lot better. If we put up good numbers in our last three and beat Utah, I see it more as the problem was Hill, not Anae, but only time will tell.

Although I am not a fan of Robert Anae's play calling abilities. I am not convinced that his job is in jeopardy. I think if BYU makes a bowl and wins the Bowl game, he stays. If we don't make a bowl, I think he goes.

I think Anae has to win out to be safe. 3-1 can probably keep his job. 2-2 or worse and he's done.

I've been wondering about our criticism of the play calling. Is it the actual plays that are being called that are the problem? Or is it the down & distance that some calls are played? Are they good plays that we just don't have the talent to run effectively?

I am the lone vote for "Anae's job is safe regardless". The only reason I voted this way is I'm not sure how close Bronco and Anae are. How loyal is Bronco to Anae & Anae to Bronco?

Is it Bronco's call or would Tom Holmoe have much input?

All I know is nobody of any consequence will be asking my opinion.

That's a low blow to CougarClaw.

Interesting question.

I don't know what it will take (if he wins out he stays) but I do know that his got some major pride issues that have held past teams back. Alot of players don't like him. I personally think we should have been able to go undefeated at least one of those 10-2 years.

So here is my vote --- Anae has to show he can adjust and be flexible in games.

He did flex alittle this last game (little more passing than previous games) which I give him credit for but some of his play calling reminds me of one of my high school teams. Pretty pathetic.

IMO, If we want to be in the hunt for the top 10 each year we need someone that is aggressive like Bronco on defense.

We've upgraded in talent. We've upgraded in facilities. We've upgraded in terms of a tv deal and overall exposure. We have upgraded and will continue to work on upgrading our schedule. One of the last things we have yet to upgrade is our coaching staff.

To be elite, and that is where we want to go, we need elite coaches and I think it's time to make a change at OC after the season. Anae has long ago plateaued. We should be where TCU and BSU are and where Utah has been. That we haven't gotten there yet is, I believe, an indictment against Robert Anae. He's been at his cieling for a long, long time-since as early as 2005.

Anybody who really supports a two qb system deserves to be fired in my opinion. Any rational person should know that that just DOESN'T work. This alone would be justification for me to let him go. Tight end situation has really been mismanaged as well. I don't like that he can't pick a starter at key positions.

anae has his strengths and has done a good job up until this year but i think it would be nice to let someone else take the reigns and see if they can do better.

I guess it depends on who his replacement would be. I would actually be suprised if he is let go if we win 2 of the next 3.

So, everyone on the coaching staff should be fired? Got it.

"deserves" and "should" do not have the same meaning.

It was a disaster and anybody with a brain could have told the coaches that before the disaster blew up in their face. Man up and make the difficult decision you are paid to make as a coach. I don't think bronco "should" be fired, but if he were, he would deserve it on that decision alone for showing such a lack of backbone and bad judgment in letting anea fumble around with it. I wouldn't fire Bronco for that given his other pluses he brings to the team outweigh that mistake, but i don't feel the same way about anea any longer.

Anae has done a very good job prior to this year, but I have come to the conclusion that is it time for him to move on. I know that rubs some people like schmoe the wrong way but it is my opinion, whether its worth anything or not.

Do you want to keep playing these games or do you want to want to read more than just one sentence to understand the point I was communicating?

Do you want to keep playing these games or do you want to admit that your original reasoning for Anae deserving to be fired was crap because it also means that Bronco and Doman deserve to be fired? There are plenty of reasons someone could give for Anae deserving to be fired that don't implicate other coaches, but yours is not one of them.

You really think that firing Bronco would be justifiable? I don't either, so just admit that your reasoning was a giant, hot, stinking pile of cow manure and you didn't think it out very well.

No, I stand by by it. The two qb decision is justification alone to fire anae or anyone that thinks it is a good idea. Bronco was a moron to let it happen and if he were fired for it, it would be justification enough because it showed some seriously poor judgment and really cost the program. That does not mean that bronco should be fired. He has basically admitted that it was a mistake. Given he is smart enough to realize that and all the other benefits he brings to the program he should not be fired. Anea on the other hand said that he would do it he same way again. He deserves to be fired for that alone.

stop comparing my reasoning to your backyard.
