BYU v. Texas in New Mexico Bowl?

byu versus texas in the new mexico bowl of all places. i laughed out loud when i read that people are actually projecting that. wierd to even see that in print.

In that article they have utah playing in the vegas bowl against Miami Ohio as well. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I would take any bowl if just for the extra practice

I kinda hope so. I would NEVER get sick of beating Texas!

I don't like the idea of playing a 2011 opponent in a 2010 bowl.

SI has BYU v. Miami(ohio) in the NM Bowl. And I think we end up in the Armed forces Bowl, unless they want Army or AFA first. Schlabach has us playing ECU here. Adelson has us playing Fresno State in the NM Bowl.



Basically, all wild guesses. I suspect we end up in Poinsettia or Armed Forces, though. I pray for Poisettia, but everyone is guessing that they take SDSU, which makes it a home game for them. Why would they want that?

I see BYU in the Vegas Bowl as a "one last time" type of thing. We beat Utah and actually finish tied for second place. First place TCU goes to a BCS bowl leaving Vegas to take us

I hope we get Poinsettia. Remind the Holiday Bowl how great it was to have BYU. Most people assume SDSU will play in that one, but really, if you are SDSU and qualify for your first bowl in years, do you want to stay home for the bowl game? I wouldn't. I'd prefer a different location. Which opens it up for BYU.

If by some miracle (considering our woeful start), BYU wins out, beats Utah, comes in second place at 7-5, then we could get the LV Bowl (I personally hope not), or the Poinsetta Bowl (I'd much prefer this). If we don't win out, we go to the Armed Forces Bowl.



TCU will get a BCS bowl bid, and Air Force may opt out of the Armed Forces Bowl if they were invited. Any bowl for BYU this year, is a major comeback, a major triumph. Honestly, I think this team can beat a lot of good teams, we just really stunk it up offensively the first half of the season.

Poinsettia bowl wanted BYU at one point. My source? NOt a good one. I think it was Alema Harrington. BUt the yknow BYu travels well.

My chances of going to the bowl game this year, by location:



Las Vegas: 75%

San Diego: 40%

Anywhere else: 1%

If it's Texas I'm there 110%. I'd love to attend 2 games versus Texas. Sounds like a ucla repeat to me.

SDSU doesn't really have a choice in the matter. If Poinsetta picks them that is where they go. I image that bowl committee will have a very tough choice between BYU and SDSU for their game. They would be fighting against the local sentiment to take SDSU while knowing that BYU would still sell more tickets. I don't think the Vegas bowl will have much of a struggle taking Utah over BYU. If Utah is ranked it would be no brainer.



If New Mexico bowl has the last choice from the MWC teams there is no chance that they get BYU. One of the other bowls takes us even if we are 6-6.



The chances of me attending a bowl game not located in Las Vegas this year are small. So I am hoping for whatever bowl gives us the best opponent. So give us Texas if that's an option. I'd take Fresno State over Navy. Miami OH would be my last choice.

Greg Wrubell mentioned in Saturday's postgame show that there isn't likely going to be a MWC team at all in the New Mexico Bowl, since we'll have 5 bowl-eligible teams at most, but TCU is almost certainly going to a BcS game, leaving only four MWC teams to fill five bowls, in which case, the MWC would likely let the Independence Bowl pick before the New Mexico Bowl.



Wow, that's a lot of commas.



Wrubell's hoping for the Independence Bowl, since it's the only one that doesn't conflict with a BYU Basketball game.

Unfortunatley, it took us two QBs to beat UW who is not a very good team but a decen twin. We did beat SdSu on a very controversial no call, and they were decent - but it was in Provo.



We squeaked past a bad Wyoming team at home. And finally, we did kick buttocks on a bad UNLV team at home.



We have not beaten anyone on the road.



It is a bit early to assume we could beat a lot of good teams in a bowl game that will at best be a neutral site.



If we win the next three - and especially if we win them decisively - Then I would agree that we could beat a lot of farily good teams.

Isn't the Armed Forces bowl in Dallas an option? I'm hoping for something close so I can make the trip from Kansas.

Just what is a decen twin? Is that like a twin that used to be conjoined, but now is "decentralized"? :P
