Utah can learn from UNLV's classy bunch

The helmet to helmet hit on David Foote, that totally rung his bell by UNLV's safety Alex De Giacomo. Went up to Bronco, to apologize right there on the spot.



Bronco said,
Their safety came up and really put a nice hit on David, and it ended up being helmet to helmet. I am not sure we call it a concussion yet, but he was foggy. To the UNLV's players' credit, man, he is a classy kid. He came up and said, 'Coach, I didn't mean to do that. I am just trying to play hard, and I hope he is OK.' And their other [players] were saying the same thing. I was really impressed with the character, and the type of young men that those kids were. Because they were down, and No. 22 [Alex De Giacomo] was the safety that hit him, was throwing his body around the entire game, making a ton of plays.

And he was trying to play hard. And that he would come up to me and make sure to apologize, it is pretty neat, and he's to be commended, and it speaks a lot to [UNLV coach] Bobby Hauck, and the type of young men [he has], and what he is teaching them. Because that doesn't happen very often

I guess it was a good thing, at least they where already in black to start their grieving process. ;)

I caught about two minutes of that game, and saw that they were wearing uniforms that said things like "COURAGE" and "HONOR". And I thought that the designer must be feeling pretty sheepish, just now realizing on national tv that he accidentally left the "NO" off of the beginning of each jersey name...

Alex De Giacomo is indeed a classy guy.



I sent him this message: BYU fan here, just wanted to let you know that I have tremendous respect for how you handled the accidental helmet to helmet hit today. Apologizing to Bronco and showing concern for the injured player - rather than celebrate a big hit as some players would - earned your respect in my book and the books of many other BYU fans. Thanks for displaying such sportsmanship, it was refreshing to see.

Cool guy. Almost makes me want to root for UNLV. But not really.
