Coming Out Parties

The non-stop coming out party discussion might actually have come true today. but for whom?



While the stadium announcers gave Heaps the MVP award, I think there were some other candidates as well for their coming out party. Naturally when the offense scores 55 points on 200 yards rushing, 300 passing everyone gets to join in. I just wanted to know if the "party" had arrived so we could stop talking about it. :crazy:



I actually thought Quezada had a bigger day than Heaps. And Heaps had a big day, but 2 of Quezada's TD runs were things of beauty.

I gotta go with Heaps because Coming OUt Party implies most improvement to me. Heaps threw more accuratley and consistently than he has since high school and that made Jacobsen and Ashworth look like they used to llok when Max Hall was pitching to them. INstead of looking for th erecievers to help him out by cathing mediocre to poor throws Heaps made better throws and that made a world of difference. It also took pressure offf the running game and that exploded as well.



As always at BYU - when the QB is effective in delivering the ball where it is supposed to go - everything else starts clicking. It even keeps the defense off the field and in good field position.



I had to watch the game on the KSL Internet RADIO - so I am depending heavily on the play by play announcers and the Trib, Des News, etc., for my views on what happened.

What Q did today could have been done by JJ or Kariya. What Heaps did could have only been done by Heaps, we dont' have another player capable of that performance right now.



I don't care who he was playing against, his passes were spot on, still timely darts and he played without any fear. This one game has solidified him for next season and will make it very difficult for either Lark or Munns to unseat him. It's too easy to visualize how good Heaps can be when he's on now (and that performance was delivered by a true freshman). Now it's just one game but his teammates know, the fans know and the coaches know. Nevermind it was against UNLV, it was a thing of beauty and chances are if he had played more, the final would have looked more like 70-0.



I really wish we could have changed up schedule and played a few cupcakes after UW and left AFA and Nevada for the backend. I think the confidence issues would have been resolved much earlier.



For a true freshman to deliver the way he did today, it certainly was a breakthrough and a very timely one.

Agreed. The 3-headed RB monster was a thing of beauty though. All 3 looked pretty equal out there on the field today, and all 3 looked effective.

Also a credit to our Oline.

I picked Heaps because the other guys have already had performances like this in their careers (well Q hadn't had 3 touchdowns in one game but he had the yards before). This was Heaps coming out party. Lets just all hope that it continues next week as well.

How come there isn't an option for the frUTES? Don't they have those kinds of parties all the time there? ;) They definitely looked like a bunch of pansies out there today.

Amazing what happens when receivers catcxh balls thrown to their hands.

I would nominate the frUtes because they finally came out and showed how overrated they are. 98th best schedule in the nation will allow you to pretend for a pretty long time, but it has to end somewhere.

Huh, no one liked Luke or lark. Lol.

Great game for several players, but this was Heaps' big day.

Definitely give this one to Heaps, he actually looked like a BYU QB for the first time in his career. His passes were all on target, with zip (but catchable). His only misses were a few deep balls that were over thrown, which you expect from any QB.

The pac-12 and utah shock the other conferences and admit they are going to leave their wife and girlfriend and move in together... :bug:





How about parties for all the new faces on defense! Especially the big guy from Africa, Ezek Ansah. He's going to be awesome.
