THIS is what BYU 2010 football should look like

It's no coincidence that we put our best game together this season after a bye week. We spent a lot of time working on position mastery and re-installing our ordinary offensive package as planned for this season without all of robert anae's riley nelson garbage. This was the first time we had significant time to dedicate to this and it showed.



We were capable of playing like this and this is how our games vs. UW, FSU, AFA, USU, SDSU, WYO and Nevada should have looked, though not necessarily near the size of the UNLV blowout. If not for coaching mistakes in early august, we might have won every one of those games. Yes, I know that we beat a lowly team, so spare us the "we only won because unlv sucks nonsense." USU is worse than UNLV, so you can run an tell that, homeboy.



We are now, 9 weeks into the season, ready for the season to begin. We have two more weeks to work out the kinks before the Utah game and then our bowl game.



We really need those extra 20 bowl practices for next season.

Since BYUtx isn't here, I'll say it for him... because I agree with it and feel the same way:



Remember, that this is where Heaps would have been in the the 3rd or 4th game, had he recieved all the snaps and prep. Good to see him start putting it all together.

Yeah, and imagine what it would be like if this was our 4th game, with 7 more to play...



Seriously, Anae needs to get fired for this. Even if we average 60 points a game for the next 3.

Given how Utah has looked the last two weeks (BYU looked much better vs. TCU than Utah and the BYU was actually able to contain TCU), I think 7-5 is pretty realistic --- which would mean 6-2 in conference, 2nd place, and LV Bowl once again (unless they go and get the Utes anyway, but since Utah will probably be a normal Pac-12 representative....).



Looking back at those 5 losses, TCU was going to happen no matter what, Utah State should have never happened, Air Force was forgivable, FSU was likely going to happen no matter what, and Nevada remains the only question mark.



I do wish Bronco had realized the need for his hands on involvement with the team and the defense earlier---and that Heaps had been given all the reps last summer. It would sure feel a lot better to be 7-2 looking at another 10 win season or better.... But 2nd place in conference would be a very nice consolation prize, especially since that would included a win over Utah.....
