When is it okay to listen to Christmas music?

We all know that retail stores are in full Christmas swing now... but for you personally, when is it okay to start listening to Christmas music in the car/at work/at home, etc.

I admit that I'm listening to Christmas music right now and it feels pretty strange. I'm normally a after Thanksgiving guy for Christmas stuff, but it's been such a crazy year I thought maybe a little extended Christmas would be nice... but now I'm not so sure.

My wife would listen all year if I let her.



After the Thanksgiving.

Nothing until Santa concludes the Macy's parade.

Intermittently – at any time… on a continual basis or for extended periods of time.. after Thanksgiving.

I voted all year...It takes me all year to synchronize my lights on my house. I wear Christmas ties all year round too. It is not unusual to see me sporting a snowman tie in the middle of August.

I wore a Christmas tie in August also this year - just to see if anyone would catch it... A couple of people actually did, and thought it funny

I can't believe you all celebrate a holiday of pagan descent. Same goes for Easter. Pagans.

Christmas isn't of Pagan descent. The time of year, some of the symbols, and some of the rituals may be, but Christmas is not. I know your post is totally TIC, but it frustrates me when people mix things up like this. Had someone tell me that "marriage is a pagan thing." No, the ceremony with rings may be (I've never looked it up) but marriage and the idea of marriage have been around and recorded long before the Pagan rituals.



On the music note, the "Holiday Season" begins after Halloween is over and we start getting ready for Thanksgiving. Since there are no good Thanksgiving songs, I say listen to Christmas music for two months.

After Thanksgiving, done at 11:59PM Dec. 25. "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Jingle Bell Rock" are not allowed in my house.

We watch Christmas Vacation every Thanksgiving night to kick off the Christmas season. The Friday after is break out the tree (girls) and put up the lights outside (boys) day....that is, after we blow all our savings in the wee hours of the morning.

I'd after thanksgiving. Growing up we'd alway go up in the mountains and cut down our christmas tree the day after thanksgiving, then decorate it that Sunday and play christmas music.

regardless, I can't believe you all celebrate Christmas either! I mean, don't you know that's not even when Jesus was born? How would you like it if people celebrated your birthday when it wasn't even your birhtday! (TIC - anyone who's ever ran into J-Dubs will get this)

I have a personal tradition. I like to go out the evening of April 6th and gaze up at the stars while listening to Handel's Messiah. (For all you single guys... it was great for dates too.) ;)
