I hate Air Force

Sorry, CAFB, but I do.



I hate that they played BYU before they performed their annual swoon.



I hate that where Utah is concerned, they always just barely can't get it done. Like the Spartans at Thermopylae, the South at Gettysburg, the Germans at Battle of the Bulge, they put up a surprisingly good fight, but in the end are dead.



I hate that in order to compete, they have to come as close to cheating as they possibly can, and cause unnecessary injury (Dennis PItta...).



Finally, I hate that I can't reasonably hate them, because in everything else they do they are integrity, effort, and honor personified, and they stand between us and our enemies.



OK. I feel a little better. And I may even want BYU to play them again. But never before October.

Pretty sure CAFB hates them more (the football program at least).

Being in the Army, I have no problem hating the Air Force.

Pitta had his legs cut out (tackle to the knee) at Air Force which knocked him out of the Utah game the next week in 2008 I think.



The cut block, while legal, is extremely dangerous to the knee. But nobody dies from a cut block like they do from concussions, so it remains a legal tackle.

I will say, though, that I will pull for Air Force to win when it doesn't affect BYU. I was very disappointed that with a chance to win the game against Utah all they could muster was four option running plays and no first down. You simply have to be able to execute a 2 minute (or less) offense. I don't care who you are. And you can't do that if you can't make a forward pass.

Sure, it was a clean, legal hit. One that knocked Pitta out for several weeks. I just don't like helmet hits on knees. Injuries happen in football, I guess.

I hate that they decided not to pass the ball on their last 2 possessions against the :utard:s last weekend. They had just burned them on a touchdown pass, why didn't they go for the jugular and keep passing?
