Utah Opening Drive Vs AFA

Asiata rushed 7 plays in a row. THen Wynn passed for 5 yards. I don't know if they got the idea from Bronco, but it is working. This stings, But Utah has two very good QBs - either could start if needed, and a very good RB. They are marching right down the field and eating up clock on AFA.

It gets better. Then Eddie Wide rushed about 5 plays in a row and scored from the 1. This was a 70 yard drive with 1-1 passing for 5 yards. They ran a lot of clock.



So TTUN has 2 QBs that could start and 2 RBs that could start. They have not beatend much of anyone yet - but their SEC style scheduling of home games early and building confidence early is working well for them for now. We will see what Utah really has - next week.

Not to mention that Air Force is historically bad in the 2nd half of the season. We got them at a terrible time.

Utah defense has looked suspect. Luckily they recovered a fumble OC style after a long AFA pass play. ON AFA's 2nd drive they marched down the field at will and punched it in.



And yes Craig - Harvey Unga would have made a huge difference this season for BYU and especially early in the season

And ND lost to Tulsa and is 4-5. I wonder if that is causing any 2nd thoughts to any of our future recruits that want to take a pass on BYU and go for the big time. Same for the recruits wanting to go to UW instead of BYU. UW is gettng spanked at Home iirc, by Stanford. We have a bad year once in a while. Even with new coaches, other teams have bad years every year.

AFA kicks and recovers an on-sides kick. Get the feeling they want this one.

AFA another long pass - 45 yards - then fumbled OC style. Utah has gotten lucky twice as that was on about the 8 yard line.

Utah goes 3 and out. Incomplete pass, Run, incomplete pass.



Then it was discovered that Ute OC had Robert Anae on the phone and Robert Anae advised as follows:



The run is working too well. Try something else on 1st down. Ok. NOw 2nd and 10 - surprise them and run it up the middle. OK 3rd and 8 try that pass again - fans like passing plays - running plays bore them to death.

Iowa State played the ewe tight for a quarter too. Air Force is simply not talented enough (or deep enough.. injuries really hurt them) to keep up what they do early in the season with fresh legs.



I would love for them to beat the Ewe but I dont' see it.

Air Force has fumbled 3 times to kill their own scoring drives or the U would not be in this game. U just went 3 and out after the last fumble.



U is struggling to pass against AFA and the Ute defense, other than being really good at recovering fumbles deep in their own territory after giving up big pass and run plays one after another, looks suspect.

AF just picked utah off in the 3rd! Where's your sub-100 team you usually play against now biotches?

That's right, now you're playing a top 75 team and can barely beat them. TCU is going to roll EASILY FREAKIN EASILY. Will Farrell is wrong. BYU could hang 14 on them and our O is the worst in the country.

Utah D not invinceable - not sure if they are causing the Turnovers with great play or just getting lucky but they gave up a lot of big plays

Yeah, that awesome sophomore Jordan Wynn sure looked amazing against the AFA pass defense, didn't he? He has all those 4.0 receivers around him to make plays, too. And wow, he really got it done, didn't he?



What we see here is that defense and a solid run game can beat an opponent, can't it. AFA self destructed and still almost pulled it off. Utah is not as good as 2004 or 2008. TCU will roll them, and they Utah will not roll us this year. No way.

The fumbles I saw were caused by utah's defense. They were giving up a lot of yards but they wer looking for the strip on every play.

This game was TCU-AFA 2009. Undefeated #10 TCU goes to Colorado Springs and squeaks out a 20-17 win over a 3-2 AFA team.

And you call yourself a BYU fan. No chance?? Seriously, did you even see this game? AFA had them. 5 turnovers was the reason Utah won, and they still hung on by 5. Wynn did not look good under pressure either, same as the Pitt game. Give the kid all day and he looks awesome, but under pressure, he makes a lot of mistakes. I think the chances of BYU beating Utah just went up after Saturday, and will go up again after next weekend. The defense approach Bronco is taking is perfect to cause Utah problems. I understand we still have to score, but Utah will not come close to rolling BYU this year. Utah, like BYU 2008, is a paper tiger.
