I cant wait to watch BYUtv and see some games. I also can't wait to start and finish ranked, I also can't wait to win 80 of our last 85 home games (whatever that stat is by now), I can't wait to have muscle (Chuck) balls (Jimmer), defense (Emery), & brains (Rose) on the courts

Predictions

BYU: 86 Utah: 68 @ MC

BYU: 96 Utah: 48 @ HC

Our size is weak. Unlike SDSU, UNM, USU, Gonzaga, St. Mary's, and many other comparable schools.



Hartsock is servicable when healthy, but nowhere near dominant. We really don't have a single 4 or 5 that can go hard to the hole. They're all soft-touch guys who can't finish. This is this team's huge glaring weakness.



We still have Jimmer Fredette though, so 90% of the teams we play can suck it. :evil:

That was an impression I had last night. That we're going to be a soft team down low.

That sucks, but we've been soft down low since Rafa. I hoped Davies would become explosive, but hey he just needs to get the ball and score 15 per game down there and we are a top contender.

I think TP had a presense, but sometimes he wasn't very smart or natural, I never felt comfortable with Miles, being soft has been a common theme for a few years and it's a problem we can manage (see 30+ wins last year)

Its when we get to unlv-mwc tourney and nc2a that it shows the most-I'm hoping they'll play to strengths and push it aggressively, that's really all you can do. I expect Davies to improve through the year and he should be able to contribute more than we expect

Last time we had a legit bruiser down low was Rafa. No question. Trent was inconsistent and for his size he was on the softer side.



My expectations for the low-post game are low (no pun intended). Noah was our leading rebounder last season averaging 5.5/game. After him, it was Jackson Emery with 4.5/game! JT contributed 4.4/game. Miles made his presence felt with a whopping 3.4 rebounds. Our shooting guard out rebounded our center. Granted Emery did play more minutes.



Davies averaged 3/game. Sure you may be tempted to argue Davies didn't see as much playing time as Miles and consequently he's a better rebounder. Well, Davies averaged 13.5 min/game while Miles averaged 16.3 min. That's basically .22 rebounds per minute for Davies and .21 rebounds per minute for Miles. I sure hope Davies doesn't follow the example of his predecessor.

Anyways, back to my point of the post.



Women sports are down, football is in a hole.



BYU basketball will be the 1 ray of hope left and all will be watching closely. I hope attendance will be up to what the MC deserves.

Amen. This is the year we have our best chance to go deep in the tourney so it'll be exciting! I just need someone to stream the Mtn games and I am set!
