I'm glad that Abouo is starting to take real command at the 3. I see so much potential with his athleticism and footwork, it's nice to see him confidently use it now. He's such a difference maker on defense, that his offense is just icing.
I think there's no ignoring Martineaus numbers and of the little video I saw from the tipoff, he looks quick enough to command the backup point this year (thus allowing a redshirt for Winder) Murdock was a solid point, with simply no scoring punch and it looks to me like Martineau has a punch and can handle the ball and play defense as well as Murdock. (with Jimmer and Jackson graduating and KC going on his mission after the year, I like the idea of martineau holding down the fort until Jordan Chatman matures as a point and then Winder gets to be what he realy is, a hybrid 2 that has some handles). I didn't particularly like that idea before this week because I didn't know if Nick could give us enough.
I'm glad to hear that CC and Rogers are capable and strong. They'll both be asked to help rebound out of the zone defense i expect us to employ against bigger teams.
If there was a team that lacked ideal size and could still be successful, it's one that runs, finishes and shoots and we can do that; however you're right, Davies and Anderson are foul machines; I hope Noah gets well real quick and that CC can give us 15 minutes a game of solid play at the 4. Our schedule really doesn't make it neccessary to have a lot of size as long as those guys can play relatively mistake free and rebound.
I am disapointed to hear that Emery isn't much improved. I had hoped that he and Abouo would both come back as nails on D and O. Hopefully it's just one game and that he has that next offensive gear but didn't show it last night. (though it follows my theory that married players tend to have lower ceilings on improvement)
