Wyoming INT Question

I'm getting my "receiver" rating compiled and I didn't get to watch the Wyoming game. On their Pick 6, who was the intended receiver. None of the play-by-plays show the intended reciever. Anyone know to whom Heaps was trying to throw?

A fullback, so either Hague or Mendenhall... I wanna say it was Hague.

I thought it was Hague, but I am going off just my recollection.

Also thought it was hague, with daylight in front of him.

I thought it was Mendenhall actually. But everybody else seems to think it was Hague so go with that.

A fullback. Not much daylight, ten yards or so.

Definitely Hague. #32. He almost caught the defender in time to stop the TD.

While we are on the topic, is there any reason that defender should have been there in the first place unless he knew what play we were going to run and positioned himself for it. I can often tell what play we are going to run and I'm not even trying, so someone who is studying BYU should be able to do that a lot. I worry that our offense is way too predictable. Also, even if we can beat our next three with the run alone, wouldn't it be a good idea to start branching out into our passing game to prepare for the rest of the season and next year?

The D-end wasn't in position to make a play if Heaps would have thrown worth a damn, it wasn't a matter of the D-end being somewhere he shouldn't be, he was where D-ends should be on that play: not getting any pressure on the QB and out in no-man's land.

My theory is that Heaps, a little weary of criticism of him over throwing the deeper passes, tried to take a little off this one and took way too much off it. In this situation, there was no excuse to risk any possibility of underthrowing the ball, because the only defender within a mile was there and Hague had him beat by several steps. If Heaps hit him in stride, it had a good chance of going the distance other than all of our players being slow, old, white guys. But Hague could run over most defensive backs even if one caught up to him.

It was a good call and the full back had the linebacker beat. Linebackers are supposed to cover backs out of the backfield so it was not a "read" play due to predictable play calling. All it needed was to have a simple pass completed that any average QB could do in his sleep. Heaps just flat out muffed this throw, there is no other way to describe it. Just like when he threw 3 feet over the head of mendenhall on a play action pass that would have scored a touchdown. Sometimes Heaps makes jaw dropping throws. Most of them this year were because of horrible looking short passes that I have seen very average QB's make easily. Some of them were like the two he threw in the wyoming game where he threaded a 20 yard pass into Ashworth on a rope.

This just in!! It was a HORRIBLE pass that any no-good, flag football girl qb could have made.

Pretty sure it was Hague.
