Bye Week Grades 2-RBs

Now the RBs.

A - the only "players" on this team are RB's. JJ is too slow for his size and can't break a tackle, but he leads the team in offense. Kariya should get the ball more and looks a step faster since SDSU. Juice...I can't tell yet if he really has much more speed than JJ, but he has better acceleration. I don't see the next Curtis Brown/Unga in this group but for now they are getting the job done.

JJ is quick and shifty should stop ALWAYS trying to get to that outside edge.

Kariya is a load to bring down, keep pounding it.

Juice seems like a hybrid of both and want to see more of him.



There are other "players" though... on the other side of the ball

If we had a B- option, I'd give them the B-... I had to think awhile on whether they were a B or a C, but I gave them a B for the following reasons:



- They've been better than Heaps, and I gave Heaps a C



- It's not Di Luigi's fault that Anae doesn't seem to know how to use him, or Kariya's fault when Anae tries to sweet it to him and have him try to run it around the defense



- They looked really good against SDSU and Wyoming. If not for those games, I'd give give the RB's a C, because they have stunk it up against most of our good opponents



I don't know how anyone could have give them an A. These guys are not good enough to get it done against top caliber teams yet, and they are not comparable to top caliber RB's.

C. I hate to do this for the reason I am, but in addition to the concerns listed above, I cant believe I heard the amount of spew coming out of JJ's parents at the Wyo game. Was sitting four rows away from them and they kept yelling at Anae (not that I was upset about that) to "put in the older players"--especially right after Quezada fumbled. If that is not the most ironic, most hypocritical reaction to how many times JJ fumbled as a freshman and how many since--particularly the muffed call on his fumble against SDSU that could have cost us the game. I get their frustration w Anae, just thought that was over the top and I wondered how indicative this was of JJ's attitude toward younger guys getting reps.

I'd give this group an A for effort and a B for performance, combine that to a B (I marked B).



They are the only group that it feels like has come out and played with heart and put effort into every game they've played.
