For the Jimmy Mac fans

I am hoping the current number 9 comes close to the standard set by this number 9.

Jim McMahon was the best throwing QB to ever play college football.



Can you imagine what McMahon would do if he were the QB at BYU this year? I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have a dearth of offensive leadership.

Don't forget his ability to read a defense and adjust the play called. And his competitiveness was second to NONE! He was the ultimate winner..........

Jimmy Mac wouldn't have survived even 1 semester in today's environment at BYU. Back in the day, Lavelle didn't have the media scrutiny that surrounds the program today so he was able to deal with Mac behind closed doors. That wouldn't be possible in today's environment.

I think it was a good thing for Jimmy Mac. I have read Vai's articles on Jimmy Mac and believe that he is overall a good person. I think that Lavelle handled him the way that he should have been handled. It wouldn't have done Mac any good to get kicked out of BYU.

You're absolutely right. Since it was a focus on the 1980 season and not McMahon the player, I just called him a prodigy to sum up these essential traits of a great QB.
