Have any of the trainers ever considered a course of Bikram yoga to help returning missionaries work out the kinks and re-condition? A typical class is 90 minutes in a humid 105 degree room. The heat helps loosen up the muscles and joints. It also builds mental fortitude. I am a former competitive runner and a health care provider. I've seen a lot of people use Bikram yoga to rehabilitate following injury. I dare say it would certainly cut down on hamstring injuries.

You can come play in my clubhouse anytime you want now. I've just awarded you a lifetime membership for those comments. Whenever I talk about strength/conditioning/speed training, yoga is always brought up as absolutely vital. The amount it reduces injuries and the way it helps previous injuries heal is unbelievable.

Does it have to be 105? That is so hot. What about a nice 80-85?

In all seriousness, yoga would be good for our football team. Increased flexibility and core strength is always a good thing.

Is Bikram yoga anything Brigham Younga?

I've done Bikram (hot) yoga off an on for a couple years now and really love the results. Core strength is amazing. It's hard to do daily since it takes over an hour (I get my routine to about 60 minutes) and you have to get the room pretty freaking hot.

Come on Dwight, Yoga is for sissies!!! That couldn't possibly help with anything. Players just need to pump heavier weight at less reps. ;) tic

Bikram Yoga is for sissies? If you can complete a real Bikram class (90 minutes) with a certified instructer, I'll buy you dinner. I think it is easier to run 8-10 miles than do a Bikram class. However, the benefits of the Bikram Yoga are far more significant and longer lasting.

Sorry Dwight... you're new, tic = Tongue-in-cheek. I totally agree with your post and think Yoga should definetly be part of our workouts.
