Oct. 5 Two male students were arguing over dating. One was having a difficult time getting dates and was telling the other student about it. The second student joked that he didnât have a difficult time getting dates and he could date the other studentâs mother. The first student took offense and slammed the second student against a wall and brandished a knife. Upon arrival, the police arrested the first student for aggravated assault. However, the second student decided not to press charges, so the first student was released.
Oct. 7 In Lot 48, A black Toyota was parked against a hill and the windows were fogged up. When the officer approached, the officer discovered a male and female in the car. After running the plates on the car, the officer noticed the owner of the car is banned from UVUâs campus for a sex offense. The officer warned the young woman that her companion was dangerous. The woman assured him that she was fine and the officer left
Sept. 28 A student in a gorilla costume was reportedly scaring people near Heritage Halls. Officers located the student and asked him to stop.
Sept. 29 A male was reported to be getting ready to steal a backpack from an area where students left their belongings during a career fair in the Wilkinson Center. He was gone when officers arrived.
Sept. 25 Floor security recognized a male student who had previously stolen items from the BYU Bookstore. They watched him put books in his bag and called for backup.
They tracked him as he mingled among throngs of people toward the loading docks on the third floor. He went into a restroom, where a store manager confronted him.
Taking out the books, the student gave an excuse about what he was doing there. Preventing his attempt to get away, the manager, who is also a reserve police officer, grabbed his arm.
The student said he could not touch him since he was not a cop. The manager said he was a cop and that the student was under arrest. He tried to get away again, so the manager grabbed his shoulder bag.
After fighting and running some more, the student was apprehended and put under arrest.
Sept. 13: Police received a call about a strange object in the middle of a motorcycle lot. It was a gas can and it was full of gasoline. Dispatch called the grounds department and they came and picked it up.
Sept. 14: A woman called reporting an older-looking male walking around Wyview Park. She said he looked creepy and out of place. The man was gone when officers arrived.
Sept. 13: Several items were reported stolen from a female residence hall, including a wallet with contents worth over $200, and a batch of homemade cupcakes. :lol:
Sept. 16: A BYU employee reported they had experienced identity theft and false information had been used in a controversial blog. It is currently under investigation. Backed out of coming out of the closet?
Oct 20: A former Y football player was escorted off campus...just kidding.
