Anae and Poly recruiting?

This thread is intended as a question:

Does RA still represent recruiting advantage with Kahuku High? Or, have those days faded to the point where we are in the same boat with or without him? What about Steve Kaufusi? Is his influence more recent? I know that the so called "poly pipeline" from Laie used to be quite valuable to us. However, a lot of those Laie players have recently been choosing PAC 10 schools, and lately we seem to be getting more of our poly recruits from families currently residing in the States.

Perhaps some of you could share what you know if you have connections, such as imuakahuku.

If the subject matter is too personal for public comment, then that's cool as well.

I would be willing to give up kahuku recruiting to save this offense and Heaps.

From what I understand though, Robert Anae has never been much of a recruiter and while he has some connections, none of them have delivered.

Personally, unless we score 30 a game for the remainder of the season, Robert Anae is dead man walking and nothing he brings to the table as a recruiter makes a difference. (also we're not looking at a kahuku player this season or next from what I'm seeing).

Imuakahuku may have some insight but I thought I had heard that Anae is actually not a help when it comes to poly recruiting. I had actually heard that he can be a detriment to the poly recruiting and can rub some poly the wrong way. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

We're not even signing people from the islands with regularity anymore.

Anae is a non-factor when it comes to recruiting. Be they Polynesian or not, Anae is simply irrelevant.

Actually Bronco himself is the big dog for recruiting in Hawaii. Anae goes and is great for pointing it out but I have not heard one word from any of the recent recruits regarding RA. Most talked about Bronco and Doman. Both of them are well loved in Laie but most especially Bronco. Because they love the idea of someone standing for something (the church)/

Didn't hear much talk about him either. It is mostly Bronco. People love him. They love his attitude, sincerity, honesty, and testimony.

With all due respect I think Anae is now a recruiting obstacle. If you were a highly talented athlete on offense would Anae and his coaching and play calling be a recruiting plus? I have my doubts

Word is that he was an obstacle to recruiting long before our offensive struggles.

Thanks, guys for the input, especially imuakahuku-- I know you have contacts there. It sounds like we don't have anything to lose regarding recruiting, if indeed RA's days with the program are numbered. It's good to hear that Bronco is so well liked.

Yeah, let's see.

Anae as OC and TE coach <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Chad Lewis as TE coach and (Doman, Kragthorpe, Detmer, or anyone else at OC).

I mean if you are a TE that even knows where BYU is on the map, how can you not freak out at having Chad be your TE coach?

He would be "surrounding himself with great" recruits...

Those two and Dulan. And Dulan is the only one that has played any significant minutes. That was my point. We are getting drips from the pipeline. It's not flowing.

I anticipate 3 additional coaches gone (maybe 4, but Reynolds wouldn't be fired, he'd possibly quit) in Anae, Higgins, and Kaufusi. Bronco had already started to take the D-line over by coaching the nose tackles.

This off-season will be a test to see if Bronco can get this back under control.

Is that why we wanted a 10 game series with Hawaii?
