Why Does Utah Get A Pass?

In my mind Utah set the events in motion that led BYU to go independent. Maybe this is all plowed ground, but if Utah had stayed, BYU would have stayed and with BSU the MWC would have been a AQC. Utah's leaving is the undoing of the MWC's dreams of an ACQ designation. And with ACQ lost and the MWC and MTN unwilling to rework media access issues with BYU, BYU's departure is understandable too. So why is the MWC and its schools so mad at BYU--at least they seem that way to me--and not so much with Utah? The WAC is not mad at BSU--just Nevada and Fresno. I do not get it. Utah started this chain of events, not BYU

I believe that even with BSU (and BYU and Utah) the MWC never gets AQ status. It was never going to happen and taking Utah was the final solution to make sure it never happened. Remember how the MWC was always right in the thick of things regarding the BCS unil they started conference play. Then they would finish a distant seventh. How can that be considering that we were "better" than a couple of the AQ conferences? Conference games should be a wash because the final record will always be .500. It is because of how the BCS weighted the conferences. We would always finish too low to ever qualify. The deck is stacked and there is nothing that any non-AQ conference can do about it short of outside intervention. Perhaps the only other way was to convince enough FCS schools to go FBS to get the majority so they could then have the power (except the BCS already has a contingency for that-drop out of NCAA and form a new assoc.). They have their money and they are content to keep it the way it is.

utah gets a pass because they dumped the MWC in favor of the prettier girlfriend...which everyone can relate to. BYU, on the other hand, dumped their girlfriend not for a prettier girlfriend, but because the current girlfriend was worse than being single, and that hurts feelings.

Exactly! What a slap in the face.

I had a friend in high school who would break up with a girl because he'd rather just sit at home and watch football on tv. It drove the girls nuts. Ironically, in their eyes it made him kind of irresistible. Maybe TCU will develop a secret man-crush for the Cougs.

You don't think they have one already? Patterson seems to spend an extra special amount of time and energy talking to the media about us and they've had our helmets on their tackling dummies for how long?

If they're still putting BYU's helmets on their tackling dummies. They're waisting their time on us, when it's Utah they should be worried about.

The short answer to this question: Because we are better than Utah. We are better than all the other schools, too.

More detailed answer, continuing from above: Oh sure, a school might have a better particular team or program that is better than ours, but over time and athletic dept. for athletic dept. it is not even close. At the moment, BYU has 126 total MWC athletic championships. That is the most. Utah's 47 is the second-most. I don't know who the 3rd most is or how many wins they have, but we have more than 33 more championships than Utah and the #3 team combined. We have more fans. We sell more tickets. We get more viewers. We drive up advertising revenue. We are awesome. Those other programs are less awesome. Some are great in their own right, but every one not named Utah or TCU is basically crap. That's why.

Why does Utah get a pass? Because their receivers have shown they can catch passes as ours haven't.

Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but, its because the church is true. Not TIC, Its the same reason vitriol is spewed after every article and it inevitably comes to mormon bashing sooner or later and why we are the most hated team in america. Its the same reason why the mission arguement is even an argument. The truth is not popular (atleast to the vocal minority) and when those who claim to have truth, mess up, succeed, leave, break wind or stub their toe people will jump on it and twist it until it turns into something negative. The church is true and the BYU football team is a tool for the church and it will always (just like the church) be persecuted and hated. Why else would there be so many hate filled illogical reasons for BYU beating SDSU.

Sorry, I just got done reading 200 of the comments after the San Diego news artical about "replaygate". :sick: :sick: My mission president warned me about reading anti-mormon literature, he failed to warn me about comments sections after BYU football articles.
