Pick your upset

I thought about which would be the better upset, TCU or Utah. At first I thought TCU (higher ranked bigger win) but then I realized that would mean exposing Utahs remaining challenge thus putting them in a BCS bowl again. Utah would be nice for obvious reasons - spoiling our rivals season. Though I really would like to see Patterson throw his headset around, I'd much more prefer a Utah upset then a TCU upset. Besides if TCU runs the table, they might very well choke in a BCS game just like the last one they were in.

I think that BYU has a better chance at upsetting utah then TCU mainly because I think that feasting on the worst in the MWC for a few weeks in a row will give the offense a chance to improve its timing and execution. Expect Heaps to look like a BYU QB by that time.

As far as chances go, BYU has very little in either game. But your right, it is more likely that we beat Utah than we beat TCU. Not only will we have our offense clicking by then (hopefully) but its a huge rivalry, anything can happen.

In addition the big problem with the Utah game is the MWC refs wouldn't know who to screw with bad calls, Utah who was the first to announce they were leaving, or BYU. I think we all know that answer! ;)

Utah. Rivalry games are always 50/50 in this series. The favorite usually wins, but not always. I like our chances at RES better than at Amon Carter. Especially after Utah gets their bubble deflated a few times between now and then.

I'd rather beat TCU because this may be the last time in awhile we get to play them. Also, they have beaten us so bad the last two years, a win would feel like the biggest upset we have had in a long time. Reading reports that they have a shuotout on their minds just makes me want it that much more.



Of course, if we miraculously beat TCU, we would all think we could beat Utah as well.

LOL and this is the only reason the replay crew got suspended, if it went in SDSU's favor they would have gotten raises, paid directly by Hair.

I'd like to see BYU over TCU because I'm getting sick of the "you scuttled the MWC" blather coming out of Patterson's face.

But I rather see BYU over TCU this year because it would be the most epic upset of all time for BYU.

If Utah is undefeated going into the BYU game and BYU beats them, I suspect that would be the most epic upset of all time for BYU. There would be so many stories to that: BYU would be 6-5 at best going in, while Utah would be 11-0. Utah would be ranked near the top 5, needing just a win against BYU to go to a BCS game. It would be the last meeting before Utah leaves for the Pac 10 and BYU for independence. Add to that the already existing rivalry context, and nothing would top that.

I"m convinced now, beating TCU would be an awesome gift to give Patterson - it might just kill him, he looks close to having a heart attack on the sidelines when he's winning. But if Utah remains undefeated (not likely) that would be the bigger upset. Mingjai is right, nothing would top that.

We don't recruit against TCU. I will take a win over anyone on our schedule this year.

Beat them Both!!! Win out...8 - 4 then 9 - 4 with a bowl win.

I will take a win over TCU. Would love to beat them after losing two straight. it would be a massive upset. see wrubells post on this. He argues biggest ever.



utah and tcu are both a little overrated in my opinion, utah moreso than tcu.



i would be shocked if we beat tcu, simply shocked. utah i would be less shocked. those games are always close. we will be better come the end of they year as well. I also believe utah may come into that game a little deflated but scratch that, that is never true because for them a win over byu is better than a bcs bowl. they never have a motivation problem like we did in 2008.

LOL..... I was completely finished with the MWC last season after the way our TCU game was called. Some of you may remember me denouncing the conference and calling for independence then, but that was on CB IIRC. We had suffered the loss to FSU, and that made TCU the MWC BCS darling. Of course, we were likely destined to lose anyway, but the officiating was especially blatant in it's partiality, and it was infuriating to watch.



Regarding the SDSU game officials, I'm wondering if they were thinking of the previous fumble call that went against us in spite of Bronco's challenge, and so were more lenient toward us with a make up call, especially if the whistle was already blown before JJ's ball came loose (I confess that I was unable to see any of this myself). I do agree that it is very telling that those officials were punished for a relatively minor incident when it happened to favor BYU. It almost seems like the PAC 10 aftermath of the Jake Locker incident.
