Scheduling after September as an Independent

Saw in the sidebar with tweet updates (that is very cool by the way...) that Pac-12 and Big-12/10 are only going to have conference games after September and no schools will be able to play OOC games after the first month or so of the season.



Seems a little fishy to me, first off, and it also seems that will make it impossible to get anyone from either of these conferences to schedule us after September, including Utard.



I expect the MWC to follow suit.



Does this really mean we may be stuck with WAC also rans for the home stretch every year? Does this also mean USC vs. ND game gets moved up?

Are the big 6 conferences moving to prevent anyone else from going independent? Sound like out future September games will be all top 25 teams followed by also rans.

The pac10 already had that rule. If the conference left you with a bye post-September, you could fill that hole with a non-conference game, but you don't find out whether you have a bye or not until a few months before the season, which is generally too late to do any decent scheduling.

That rule must not apply to USC, who alternates playing Notre Dame in South Bend in October and in LA in November. I still think Utah should try to schedule BYU on the USC-Notre Dame weekend because theoretically at least one Pac 10 team (besides USC) will have a conference "bye" scheduled that same weekend.
