Should the MTN be required to read a disclaimer?

I just watched the MTN review of the BYU vs San Diego State game. The entire time was spent on the fumble call that went for BYU late in the 4th. No mention of the previous bad call that went for San Diego and resulted in 7 points. The final remark was that San Diego State was one bad call from being 4-1. The only comment that wasn't about the fumble was criticism of Bronco for calling a timeout to botch San Diego State's field goal attempt. They do still seem to love Utah despite their leaving the MWC. I would almost rather watch MSNBC talk about politics.

After the game yesterday... They spent a lot of time discussing this fumble call. I don't recall them talking much anything good for BYU.



All they can do is down grade BYU cause they know how important BYU is/was to the MWC.

Why watch for anything other than the game?

The MTN shouldn't have to read a disclaimer, because it shouldn't be on TV.

I can't remember how many times between the 4 of us that someone said something like, "I for sure won't miss this next season."



I about fell on the floor laughing when they commented about their fine camerman and no more than two plays later they bit on Heaps fake throw and followed the non-throw even though he had handed it off prior to the fake throw!

Maybe I'm just on crack or something but as I recall from the view they showed on the replay at the game yesterday that it was clearly a fumble, but as JJ was lying on the ground (definitely "down") he had his hand reached out and it was around the top of the ball. Thus the ball was "secured" and the ball was down with JJ in possession.



I'm a little sick of how when there's a fumble if gives everybody on both teams the chance to dog pile and fight for the ball, (There's a difference between trying to recover a fumble, and trying to cheat by taking the ball away at the bottom of the pile) a good 10-20 seconds after the whistles have blown. Is the saying not, "Play to the whistle is blown?"

Yes, the disclaimer should read: Our idiot cameramen do not understand how to shoot a football game. After a punt, they will focus on the punter, rather than follow the punted ball. They will zoom in as tight as they can on the line of scrimmage, instead of showing most of the field. They will bite on 3 out of 4 play action passes. As this is how we like to watch football, we will assume that these aren't really problems, and see no need to fix them. (Just like we see no need to give any allowances to BYU to broadcast their home games.)

Having this scroll across the screen during football games would be more informative than listening to their ridiculous commentary

The motive would suggest the such is possible.... The Mtn West wants TCU in a BCS bowl game, so the conference will protect its investment. Utah is also in the running for a substantial bowl offer, although Utah vs TCU will have a loser. If TCU is still #4, look for the MTN West conference to protect TCU. And Utah has played creme puff conference opponents, and will have to play San Diego State and Air Force. Air Force always gives them fits. The conference hates BYU and is going to do all it can to ensure its "sour grapes" philosophy is reinforced and that BYU's exit will look noneventful, while BSU's entrance will be all glory. BSU fans, however, are about to find out that the MTN TV contract sucks. There certainly seems to be plenty of motives for prejudice here..........

Maybe MTM can tell us what it's like from his end but from my end it seems like BYU is getting hate left and right for leaving the MWC and Utah is being let go with hugs and kisses. When Utah left the MWC I don't remember any MWC coach or AD or president saying anything like "Who's going to play Utah now?" or "We will never play Utah again!"



When it comes down to it BYU and Utah did the EXACT same thing:



Utah left the MWC in a move that they felt would be of most benefit to them.

PS. These were my observations before the football season even started so it can't be because Utah is undefeated and BYU isn't.

One of the annoucners harping on the "blown" call that cost SDSU the win was Kelly Stouffer. You may remember him as a HUGE bust in the NFL (taken #6 overall and wen 5-11 as a starter). He played at CSU and was in the 1987 draft so he was there for CSU's upset of BYU in 1986 (24-20) but also there for BYU's 42-7 and 52-9 wins the two previous years.



He has a serious bone to pick with BYU. In 2005, he was the color commentator in the BYU-UNLV game. BYU won 55-14 and handed the ball of each of it's last two possessions. UNLV was unable to stop Wayne Latu who nearly had a 100 yards in the 4th quarter. Stouffer was adamant about how despicable BYU was in running up the score like they were.



He was also trying to show how Missouri had a block in the back that should have negated a long TD. Forgetting the fact, that if you are being blocked and then turn your back to the blocker and the blocker maintains his block, it is NOT a block in the back. This is what happened. An SDSU player was engaged, turned his back to his blocker and was shoved to the ground because he no longer had any leverage. What the Aztec should have done is either shed the block and made the play or tried to fight through the block which could have led to a hold - which would have brought the play back. It was NOT an illegal block and like the DiLuigi "fumble" didn't cost SDSU the game.



Stouffer is a tool. I will not miss his "analysis" of BYU.

Sounds like a great time to watch the game on the DVR and pause it so it's insync w/KSL .
