byutxAs I have chosen to view this season through a lense that adjusts for the stupidest BYU football decision ever under Bronco, today's game was the equivalent of a final week of fall camp. I expected a potentially big loss but was very happy to be wrong. I think we'll get throttled in next week's "opening" game @ TCU, but we'll have a relatively easy stretch leading up to Utah (we've played 3/4 of the top MWC teams-now for the crappier ones!).
If we get this type of effort for the remainder of the season, we should be able to beat all but TCU and Utah. I still think we'll have a shot against Utah just because of the craziness that is the rivalry. Plus, they will have come off a 4 game streak against: @ Air Force, @ Notre Dame, TCU, @ SDSU. Meanwhile, we'll have played Wyo, UNM, CSU, UNLV during that same time.
*Now, I don't really think that Marshall is better than Nelson, but I think Nelson's talent caused us problems because he was "too good to keep off the field" but, IMO, not good enough to run our offense. Had he been slightly less awesome, we wouldn't have screwed around with the stupid 2-QB system and sacrificed at least one likely win @ USU. I would love to see him get 5-10 snaps a game next year as the 3rd string QB.
