Couple of thoughts at half time

1. For those who said (in my very best self-righteous, Dana Carvey, church-lady voice) "I'm so glad we don't have that classless coach Whittingham. Bronco would NEVER call a time out at the last second like that to try and throw off a kicker. That's one reason Kwhitt would NEVER fit in here and I'm glad we have Bronco instead." Hahahahaha! Were it not for that we'd only be up four points instead of seven.



2. The fake field goal. Awesome. One of my biggest complaints is always that Bronco and Anae won't take chances like that to gain momentum. That gave me hope.



3. Defense. Who are THESE guys??? At THIS point (we still have another half of football to play) I'd say the Hill firing looks GENIUS. The defense actually looks formidable. I actually feel on third down like we have a chance to stop them.



4. Turnovers. Heaps' INT was VERY badly timed. Lost us incredible momentum. And Matthews just looks retarded for holding that ball out in front of him making it easy to strip. HOWEVER.....I think it is a VERY good sign that despite these HUGE mistakes (oh yeah, and Stephenson's 2 yard punt) the score still favors us. We are REALLY beating them up out there. We almost look like BYU today.

Turns out that negated field goal caused by Bronco calling the TO was the difference in the game.



I hate the play in general, but support it 100% tonight. ;)

Interesting stat from the SDSU game.



At half time we held SDSU to -2 yards rushing. In total, we held them to 53 yards rushing. Wow! What a difference.

Bronco called the time-out well before the snap; it was the ref's fault for not blowing the play dead sooner. That's why the refs in the endzone didn't even bother calling the kick good. Not intentional icing.



Also, the fake field goal was Bronco's call, not Anae's.

Ya, I thought that was interesting when Bronco said he and the special teams coordinator worked it out and basically determined that if they ever got in X situation during the game they would try a fake field goal. Anae better start updating his resume.
