Real Men of Genius

I know this is kind of random, but I've been on a Survivor kick lately--my two year old son is obsessed with predatory creatures and for his bedtime lullaby asks us to sing about dragons (Puff the Magic one), lions (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) and tigers (The Eye of the Tiger....by Survivor), so that got me going back through my old Survivor albums.



In going back, the lead singer's voice in the early albums seemed really familiar, so I was beating my brains out trying to figure out which band he was with currently that made it so familiar. Turns out it wasn't a band at all--the former lead singer for Survivor, Dave Bickler, is the guy who sings behind the announcer in the Budweiser Real Men of Genius commercials.



Crazy--the guy who gave us Eye of the Tiger also gives us this (although he has apparently given up the beret :( ):

Dude... you own Survivor albums? Did you not listen to Elder Packer's talk? ;-)

We were at a suns game a couple of years ago and they introduced that guy as the lead singer from survivor. He went on the court a couple of times during time outs to do his 'real men of genius' routine with a suns theme. His seats were right in front of ours so we shook his hand and told him we were fans. He has the look of an aging rocker but seemed to be a nice guy.
