Capturing Hearts and Minds - Bronco Quote

Love this quote from Bronco during the weekly MWC Teleconference this morning:



"My main goal is to improve and uncover the heart and soul of this particular team, and have them play with more grit, determination, resiliency and toughness. This isn't really a scheme issue, or a strategy issue... this is capturing hearts and minds and inspiring. That's one of the things that I like to do, and I'm anxious to do."



How about taking no prisoners as well.

You could look at it that way, or think that perhaps he is giving Coach Anae enough rope to either hang himself or get it done by years end. You give a guy autonomy and do not get results, and then you make a move. That is what was done with Coach Hill.

I just think Anae has been way too autonomous under Bronco and I thought our biggest problems were on offense. Bronco is much closer to the situation and maybe he will be able to inspire the offense this way as well. But then, he did say he hasn't spoken mcu to his starting QB much lately.

Despite Bronco's actions on the defensive side of the ball, I think the excitement and heart will transfer over to both sides, especially since the whole team can see the dedication coming from the Head Coach, not just a coordinator. After all, I'm just a fan sitting 1000+ miles away from Provo, and I've even been pumped about what Bronco is doing this past week.

Ya, let's hope it does--as in, "hey receivers and TE's, this is how you CAPTURE a football!!"

I expect Higgins to be fired if he can't figure out a way for players to catch and secure and sell-out if necessary to get the ball.

If Bronco leaves that to complete autonomy and chance, I'm going to puke. I hope he sorted out the difference between delegation and return and report--and "dang it there better be improvement!!"

Bronco did say he met with Jake on Monday for he first time in weeks. As the HC, he ought to week with the starting QB weekly and not leave that only to the OC and QB coach. I think Bronco is more hands on across the board, just moreso on D for now becuse he can have more influence there now.

This definition typified last year's LV bowl game against OSU. One of the most outstanding plays that I remember (a penalty was called) is when Johnson came flying out of mid air to lay lumber on a receiver and not only knocked the ball out of his hands but knocked the WR out of bounds. Refs called helmet-to-helmet when in reality he hit the guy's shoulder pads. The BYU sideline went crazy as did I. That play is what I define as being "reckless abandon." If we bring that style to the SDSU game - we will have a great chance to win.

No the unquoted part is that for the offense I aim to remove their cajones unless they catch the frickin ball
