With both Frazier and now Pendleton out, Van Noy's obviously going to be playing possibly even more than last week with Bronco saying that Jadon Wagner would also play a role. Aveni Leung-Wai would be moved to outside, with Zeke converted to Sam I believe.

So... do we have anyone from the start of the season still starting in their original position now?

Atkinson and Hunter are still in the middle along with Stout. He have had no real injury issues with that group, but they have played poorly as well. I just do not see guys blowing up blockers even if they can't make the play or being real disruptive in that group. They have been a huge reason why our run D has been so poor. Inside our pursuit has basically been nonexistent, and guys are not getting off blocs, let alone taking them on in a physical way. That has to change.

I forgot one thing from the press conference about the linebackers, Thomas Bryson is going to be cross-trained at OLB.

The red and blue show is quickly becoming my favorite local radio show. There is so much insight from these two former players.

One thing that Jan Jorgensen said today that was very telling about Jaime Hill as a coordinator. He said that Hill focused too much on protecting the DB's than anything else. He said that Hill basically forgot about half the defense (the front 7 basically). When he was playing, he basically said that when things were called from Hill, he was like "what the heck?"

Bronco should have never turned over the defense. He should never turn it over to anyone unless he can mentor the person to run it like he would (similar to what Rocky long did with him). I am almost excited for this weekends game even thought I am sure it will be a loss just to see the change in attitude that will happen, at least on the defensive side of the ball. The difference between the 2002 defense and the 2003 defense was night and day.

Do the 3X3X5! Why not! Our DBs are slow and experienced, vs...our inexperienced and slow LBs. I'd much rather have some experience. Also, we're playing SDSU, they won't be doing much underneath stuff, just lots of bombs and quick tricks. Having 5 DBs can give more pressure to keep things short on the aztecs, and our 3 LBs can just play prevent the whole time (since I doubt they can do anything else). TCU plays 8 DBs (Watch Them against the spread) when it's a run, short pass, screen, flat pass, or scramble the 4 LB/DBs will use brains and speed and play up the position and almost always keep positive yards to a minimum and force lots of punts. BYU should be able to do this and it seems more like they are wasting their practice time on how to be slow and flat then actually working towards this. I say make the switch during mid-season to finish 1-11 and be great next year, or keep with what's not been working and finish 1-11. Your move Bronco and unexperienced GAs...your move.

Let's just hope the offense comes along by Saturday as well. As good as Bronco might make the defense, you still have to get first downs, touchdowns and points to win a game. It's bizarre that a BYU offense is an anemic as it is this year. Somehow I don't believe that will be the case for long.
