Respectful and constructive and gives credit for things done well. He has not commented one-way or the other, however, on the rumblings about conflict with players and other coaches. I would be interested in similarly constructive comments on that aspect of the situation.

After the game I turned my attention to conference and didn't hear about the firing until today. My take is the same as this article's. I hate getting into "differences of personality" and that garbage because most of it tends to be speculative, but this isn't the first time in the last two years when I thought maybe Hill was in over his head.



He was a great positions coach, but there have been times in the last two years that our defense looked terrible. Every one of our losses we gave up at least 31 points. Also consider BYU ranked 10th, and 9th in scoring defense in 2006 and 2007 under Bronco. That dropped to 39th and 29th in 2008 and 2009 and are currently 87th under Hill.



I've got nothing against Hill and I wish him success in the future, but I don't know that he was ready to be coordinator...yet.

Almost. Nevada got 27. And it could be argued that part of the defense's problem was the offense, which has left it to the defense to win.

Our defense is going to have to win us some games. Face it, our offense is too young to count on them for anything. Being tired is not an excuse. I remember in 2005 when we lost to Notre Dame and they were interviewing Cameron Jenson, the Defense had been on the field a lot. His response to the tired question was "no, we weren't tired, we just didn't get it done" The offense has not put the defense into bad positions too much, we haven't thrown pick 6's this year, there have been no fumbles or interceptions deep in our own territory. The defense has been terrible because they are allowing drives that cover the whole field on many plays for scores, touchdowns mostly. The defense is going to have to play better and give the offense the ball and the opportunity to improve and score. If we keep giving up 24 pts in the first half to teams like USU, then we will not win another game this year.
