DC Wish List

Who do you think Bronco will pick to be his DC for 2011? Name your top picks:



1) Rocky Long--obvious history there. And SDSU is good again because they can play D. Go get him.

2)Kilani Sitake--BYU Grad getting it done at the U. Bring him home.

3) TCU Linebackers Coach-- They play fast, look good, and reload. The LB coach could bring some of that to Provo.

4) Steve Kaufusi--promote from within. If this happens, best guy for the job.

How about

1. Leach - Not a big learning curve for him :)

2. Detmer - A serious student of the game.

3. Danny White - Was widely regarded as a great "coach on the field" and has coaching exp to go with NFL experience.

4. Bosco - Knows how to win

5. Chad Lewis - A whole heck of a lot of pro experience

6. Koz - Was a special player while here

7. Scott Mitchell - Lot of NFL experience

8. John Tait - Experience





Would Rulon Jones make a good/great DC? And the better question, could we get him to give up the Elk hunting business as a full time occupation (let someone else run it) to coach at BYU?

Any one of those guys would make a great assistant coach, maybe even a major position coach, like QB or TE, but none of them have any serious experience coaching and thus cannot step into a OC position.



Obviously Leach has the experience, but I doubt we'll be bringing in someone with his troubles.

Danny White has "pro" football experience as HC to Az Rattlers and the Utah Blaze.

Detmer, like White, was basically a player coach. Anyone who watched Detmer could see that he knew exactly how to run the offense. He made his OC look good. He stuck around the NFL for so long because he knew the game so well and could help young QB's. That speaks volumes in my book.

Mitchell is the HC at his HS alma matter

Koz has been the HC at two high schools.



But this is just a list off the top of my head. Feel free to add to it or suggest "better" considerations.

My first choice for new DC would be the DC currently with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The guy has a great defense.





I don't think BYU is willing to pay a coordinator more than they pay their head coach, however.

I would LOVE to see Bronco step down from HC to the DC and let someone like Leach, White, or others step in too run the team.

REPEAT--Leach will not be coming to BYU any time soon. BYU is not going to hire an alcoholic in any capacity.
