Every game is winnable, that's why we play them. What we have not seen yet, are playmakers making plays, on offense or defense. When playmakers start making plays, we'll start winning games. When he Heaps settles in a little better, which I have no doubt he will; when receivers start making plays and catching balls; when the blocking improves and runners have room to run; when the Dline brings pressure, when linebackers blitz and make sacks and get tackles for loss, when secondary players start knocking down passes and intercepting passes--then we will start winning again, and we can win any of the remaining games on our schedule.
I do believe BYU ran into a strange vortex this year. Our first five games all had experienced, skilled, senior QBs, and mature teams. BYU on the other hand has young, inexperienced, freshmen or sophomores, who have not yet learned to play to win. For some odd reason I can't explain, our receiving corps is just awful. Ashworth is a senior, Jacobson is a Junior, Chambers is a junior--where are they? they have failed the team...badly.
I refuse to believe this situation will continue. BYU will begin to step up soon. Still, Lindley (SDSU) is a skilled junior, Andy Dalton (TCU) is a skilled senior, Utah is a very good team. But few football powers go through any season without having numerous teams on their schedule who are very skilled and very good, and who are capable of defeating them. Every team plays freshmen and sophomores, and who have to replace key players every year. BYU is no different than any other. But if BYU players do not begin playing with passion, begin making plays, and begin playing to win--it's entirely possible they lose all the rest of their games.
