Is McKay still our fastest guy?

I've watched McKay's runs and I just don't see him being our speedster anymore. All four games, I haven't seen him separate from anyone. Has he lost a step?

fastest guy right now is Di Luigi. And even he isn't that fast compared to the offensive starters on most D1 teams.

I'm not sure which of our players can run the fastest route before dropping the ball.

Probably true, but do we have any players who can take it the distance? Not a chance. Which means compared to most teams out there, we probably lose a couple scores a game due to this deficiency. Where is James Dye? Jenkins? Where are these athletes?

His name is Ross Apo, and he's sitting on the bench.

I would love to find out. McKay plain sucks and Ashworth is even worse. Can't we just line up all our TE's and see what they can do? They couldn't be any slower or have worse hands.

Mckay looks slower to me. No separation today from anyone. Doesn't surprise me though. Look up my posts. Don't know how many times I've pointed out the problems with our strength and conditioning program. But what do I know? I just run a 4.4 through self-training and personally trained with Omer for over a year. But I probably just don't like fat people or something. Don't listen to me.

I'm with you man. I was a scholarship athlete at BYU and it was known that Omer was a FANTASTIC motivator that was behind on his science and used old-school methods that were counter productive.

I too run a 4.4; however I can do my 4.4 in 20 yards.... I don't even need the full 40.

You forgot to mention "self-timed." ;)

A player told me during spring ball that Jacobson looked like he had lost a step and wasn't catching the ball like he used to .... I didn't really believe it but it has proven to be true.

haha, this is true. However, that was the average of twenty sprints. I know it doesn't matter, but I'm very proud of my forty time, seeing as how a few years ago I ALSO self-timed twenty sprints and found I ran a....(wait for it) 5.5 second forty. Haha, when I realized how unbelievably slow I was, despite being in pretty good shape, I studied speed training a lot and found some awesome things. Now I'm twenty seven (as of two days ago) I run lightning fast and.....what's the use? I guess the only place I can use experience is attempting to let people know why BYU experiences so many useless injuries every year, why our overall team speed seems lacking, and why even our fastest recruits, once they arrive here, always seem to lose a step.

Y'know I'd like to explore this idea further. I made the same comment yesterday that for some reason our "fast" "athletes" don't look anything like the guys I watch play ball for UT, Auburn, or heck even USU--we don't have a single player as fast as Speight or Martin. Does our recruiting still just suck or are these players actually regressing at BYU? Is slowness contagious?

What is the science behind this? Very interesting.
