Fuga Hurt

Fuga getting hurt is a huge loss to that d-line. He has been a big bright spot a defense that has been less then stellar this year.



That play where Fuga was hit at the knees from behind when he wasn't looking was an absolute disgrace. I've heard that the replay on TV didn't show much but the one at the stadium showed it clearly. It was a cheap shot, plain and simple. This was the same Nevada player that got a personal foul for tripping. He needs to be suspended as it looks like it is a serious injury from what Bronco said.



Nevada should be ashamed.

What's more shameful is the refs looked the other way.

The whole stadium boo-ed forever after that play. Refs should have seen it, not sure they did. I heard Jan talk about it appropriately, he said when you play football you're always look ing to hurt somebody and make them think twice about coming at you again, but this was an intent to INJURE someone.



It was a blind shot using a massive lineman's weight to roll against someone's knees FROM BEHIND. Fuga likely has ACL, MCL and meniscus damage after a stunt like that. Jan mentioned how he was publicly disciplined for saying that Air Force plays dirty. He says right now there's no equivalent reprimand for dirty plays and how unfair it is that he got reprimanded for a comment, and this guy might have ruined Fuga's career and will not even get a slap on the wrists.



And without our best D-lineman, how many rushing yards did they get? Just sayin.

What about in 2002 when an even more egregious late hit out of bounds ended Kretschmer's season? Must suck now that the shoe is on the other foot.

It was a cheap shot by a dirty player and you know it. If the refs would have seen it then this player would have been thrown out of the game as he was also given a personal foul for tripping.

Man they showed that replay like 4 times at the game and I haven't heard our crowd roar that loud in a long time --- possibly the worst boo's I've heard at Cougar stadium in years. Yep, even worse than when we kicked the field goal instead of going for it when we had driven the field at will. It really got the half dead crowd back in to the game at that point.

This is horrible! #62 is a down right dirty player, and the fact that he was able to get away with that is even worse! I heard rumor that Fugas Cousin is Nevadas Running back # 34 Taua. I wonder how he felt after that cheap shot?

#62 Bender may think what he did was all fair game.. but i was at the game and i sat behind fugas family and he didnt see the tears in every single member of his family at the game. Mom, Dad, Brothers cousins. To have his mother see her son get hurt Over and Over again on the Big screen was Heart wrenching.. My prayers go out to the Romney Fuga and His family and hope for a Speedy recovery.

Thank you for confirming what most here and throughout college football suspect about the UNR team and fanbase. I am now confident that at least half of the 1,200 total Wolfpack fans are just like you. That's sad. Enjoy the mtn. You deserve it.

I couldn't believe it when I saw Fuga back in there running around the way he was, I didn't realize that it was So'oto wearing Fuga's jersey. Here is hoping to a speedy recovery.

The NCAA should review it and suspend him. It was a blatant successful attempt to injure. Linemen are all too familiar with the results of shots like that. I wish these players were more like baseball players. I was hoping someone would drive the QB into the turf to send the message. And I would not have minded the 15 yarder. I know if I played I would have nailed one of them to send the message. Play dirty and you will pay. I recognize that I shouldn't be like that, but I am working on it. But still I would have put such a hard hit on Kap that he would have thought on some plays that he had six WR's in the game instead of three. Oh and I would have looked at #62 and said "got the message?"

As usual imuakahuku, I totally agree with you. So don't feel too bad about saying it. I am relieved you did. I have been biting my tongue ever since it happened.



The football field is like the old west—sometimes graciousness takes a back seat to justice, honor, pride, and defending the defenseless. (In that situation romney Fuga was defenseless.) I too would have been glad to take 15 yards for a brother. I know there are those that are going to get all moralistic and say leave it to the officials blah blah blah... but the only real laws on the field are honor, strength, and skill everything else is bs.

I'm not sure calling on another player to be intentionally hurt is the proper response to one our players being intentionally hurt. But I do hope that Bronco and Holmoe send the tape to Karl Benson and Chris Ault and ask that the player be suspended. You can't have players going rogue like #62 did. And you can't have BYU players retaliating - that's how even more players get hurt.

Additionally, I think football would do well to eliminate and all blocking below the knees. That's how players get hurt. Don't make it a personal foul. Make it an automatic ejection. If you did that for one season, it would fix itself. There's no need to dive at anyone's knees - ever. It's a dangerous play that shouldn't be allowed.

I just can't believe that not a single ref saw that block.

Has anything been posted about Fugas MRI's? I saw him shopping last nite with his mother.. and he was in an Electric wheelchair..

Is that hit on youtube yet? someone needs to send it to the Nevada Team and his cousin #34 Taua and show how dirty their teammate is..

I doubt we'll hear about the MRI for a little while.



That sucks. Hopefully it looked worse than it is.

My dad used to always say, I don't want a big injury, just enough to keep him out of the rest of the BYU game. The kid can play against next week.



But I agree, there should have been a lot more hits on Kaepernick. We should have taken every opportunity we had to lay the wood on him. And each time we should have said, "that's for the cheap shot on my teammate."
