Questions

I did not see the game, so insight:



Did the D play better the second half, or did UNR just get a lot more conservative?

Did the OLine win the line of scrimmage?

Did we run any play action or bootleg? and

Is BYU the Notre Dame of the west or is Notre Dame the BYU of the east?

D played MUCH better the second half. They bent, but didn't break.



Oline was a push at the line of scrimmage, if they won it wasn't by much.



We did run play action and it was successful and Jake looked very comfortable running it although he could sell it better. The first play action we ran was beautiful and resulted in a tremendous play to Hoffman.



I'm not going to touch the last one!

Thanks much LOL about the last one...If someone had told me we would hold UNR to 3 points in the second half, I would have been very pleased...I keep forgetting that this team does not score much in the second half either...I wonder why that is so

Here's another question, why don't we use Q more? Every time he has touched the ball this season, he has impressed me. I think he is averaging 6 yards per carry(even though he only has like 4 carries), so why not let him carry it more? Most of the time I see him in it is to block or go out on a little flat route. I'm just asking why don't we see if his ypc are a fluke or if he can do something special for us?

Two reasons:

1 - he backs up deluigi who has been one of the few consistent bright spots this year. They are trying to get the ball to jj more, not less.

2 - he needs to understand the offense well enough to pick up blocks and blitzes. I think he is improving here.



He should be seeing more time after today's showing.

It is my belief that Juice is a better running back than JJ barnone. He is faster and hits harder. Why he's not in there yet I don't know...maybe it's that seniority thing we're all sick of. Then again JJ is the only one who has done anything this year so he's earned it, however, I am confident Juice can do that and more given the touches.

What I noticed and loved to see when Q was getting some carries was that he was knocking defenders back off their feet. I've only seen one other player do that this year and he should be getting more pt too (Mike Hague).

With Juice in the backfield you can't audible out of a running play to a passing play because he simply cannot pick up a blitz right now. He's one of the best runners we have and absolutely the worst blocker. It will be sweet once he picks that up.

Completely agree with both of you. And I've been saying this this BEFORE the Washington game. And after the Washington game. And after the Air Force game. And after the Florida State game. And now after the Nevada game.



Our coaches are a little slow.

Totally agree. He looks a lot faster, more agressive with the ball, and like Unga, is always falling forward at the end of the play to pick up one or two more yards.



In fact, this situation reminds me a lot of the Unga, Vakapuna situation. We thought Vakapuna was awesome as a runner, and then came Unga, who was younger, but even better. I think its the same for Juice. I hope he picks up the blocking quick because I would love to see them in pro-style split back sets. Juice as the runner and Diluigi to get some swing passes or some stuff over the middle. The play action of of that would be awesome. Anyway, the future is bright once we get everything clicking.

Oh man, completely, completely agree. Get our best two offensive players on the field at the same time to keep the opposing Ds guessing.
